BBC - Feb 14, 2013 - Birmingham City: Gianni Paladini 'still interested' in Blues

Prospective Birmingham City owner Gianni Paladini claims he is 'still interested' in the up-for-sale Championship club, despite reports that his Italian consortium have pulled out.

Negotiations between Paladini's consortium and Blues' parent company, Birmingham International Holdings Ltd, were understood to have broken down.

But Paladini told BBC Midlands Today: "I'm still interested.

"I've not spoken to anyone at the club but we're keeping our options open."

Blues have also twice been approached by a sports management company representing another consortium interested in purchasing the club, Birmingham International Holdings Limited (BIHL).

“We are still interested. I've just been trying to stay quiet since the transfer deadline passed at the end of January”

But, although he has had no recent contact with acting Blues chairman Peter Pannu, Paladini insists that he remains an interested party.

"I don't want to get into a slanging match with Peter Pannu," added Solihull-based Paladini. "But we are still interested.

"I've just been trying to stay quiet since the transfer deadline passed at the end of January."

Blues have failed to publish their financial figures for the past two years, while major shareholder Carson Yeung is awaiting trial in Hong Kong having been charged with money laundering.

There have been reports that Blues are close to going into administration, and they revealed last month that they were open to offers for any of their first-team players.

But young England international keeper Jack Butland's £3.5m sale to Stoke City has eased Blues' short-term financial situation.

Former QPR chairman Paladini first revealed his interest in Blues five months ago. And he is understood to have lodged a £30m offer in November...BBC

The new @OfficialQPR_KR Twitter account will provide breaking news, regular updates and behind-the-scenes footage for fans that count Korean as their native language, helping to bring them closer to the club on a daily basis.

As well as tweeting all the news from the club in Korean, @OfficialQPR_KR will also give our Korean-speaking fans a chance to interact with the club and connect with fellow fans around the world.

The launch of @OfficialQPR_KR is the latest development as part of the club’s concerted drive to connect the global QPR family digitally and follows the recent launch of our innovative online magazine ‘The Inside’R.’

In addition, the club’s AirAsia Player of the Month Facebook app – which launched at the start of the 2012/13 season – had over 250,000 predominantly Asian fans voting in December.

Earlier this week, the club’s official twitter handle @OfficialQPR eclipsed 100,000 followers, whilst our Facebook page is fast approaching 200,000 likes.

HARRY HAPPY WITH DUBAI TRIP

Redknapp pleased with warm weather training camp ...

R’S GAFFER Harry Redknapp believes the warm weather training camp in Dubai has allowed his January signings to settle into the squad.

Redknapp added six new faces to the R’s ranks last month and he is happy with how they’re bedding in.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk prior to the squad returning to England this weekend, he said: “It’s been a good break.

“The lads have trained really hard and we’ve got a lot of good work done on the training pitches.

“The pitches are very good out here and the lads have been very receptive to the sessions we’ve put on so we’re pleased with how it’s gone.”

He added: “The lads have bonded well.

“That was part of the reason I wanted to get out here, so the new lads can get to know their team-mates in a 24/7 environment.

“They’ve been spending a lot of time together in and around the hotel, just relaxing and getting to know each other a bit more.

“It’s been a worthwhile trip.”  QPR
