Title-winning squad to return to Loftus Road
MEMBERS of the R’s 1982/83 title-winning squad will return to Loftus Road next month, as the club celebrates the 30th anniversary of our famous second division triumph.
After finishing runners-up to Tottenham Hotspur in the 1982 FA Cup Final, Rangers – managed by Terry Venables – won the old Second Division title at a canter twelve months on, finishing ten points clear of second placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
For our final home fixture of the season against Newcastle United on Sunday 12th May, members from that squad – including Warren Neill, Gary Waddock and Wayne Fereday to name but a few – will be back in W12, as the club pays tribute to a golden age of R’s players.
Amongst other planned activities on the day, the players will be presented to the crowd at half-time, as well as being available for autographs and photos in and around the ground. Our matchday programme will also look back on the superb season, including an exclusive interview with Venables, as well as a detailed review of the campaign.

The image, which appeared on an Instagram account, has since been deleted. The club will be dealing with this issue internally. Julio has issued the following statement regarding the image: “I would like to clarify that last night I attended David Luiz’s fancy dress birthday party and as a joke for my friend, my family and I dressed as him. “I want to assure everyone that absolutely no offence was intended.” The club will be making no further comment at this time.
