Although obviously maybe not/probably not to QPR - and maybe Lucarelli's style would not be the perfect fit in the Championship
Goal.com - Shakhtar Coach Paves Path For Lucarelli Departure
Shakhtar Donetsk Coach Mircea Lucescu has admitted that the departure of Italian striker Cristiano Lucarelli after less than six months at the club is probably the best thing for all involved.
The Romanian revealed that he feels Lucarelli has done well enough on the field, but at the same time voiced his concerns over whether the former Livorno icon is cut out for Ukrainian football – especially now that their European adventure is over.
“Maybe moving back to Serie A is the right thing for Cristiano,” said Lucescu.“He did his job for Shakhtar by scoring goals in the Champions League, but the Vyscha Liha is a completely different matter and it is hard for an Italian player to adapt to such a hard, raw championship.
“In Donetsk we hold no hostages – if Lucarelli wants to go in January, then we can talk about it.” Lucarelli will have been relieved to hear his coach's attitude towards the matter, as it has always been assumed that he would be seeking the exit if Shakhtar fail to make headway in Europe.
Torino are currently considered frontrunners for the veteran striker’s signature, though Napoli, AC Milan and even English first division side Queens Park Rangers are rumoured to be contemplating making an offer.
