Dorset Daily Echo - Cherries part company with Shimmin - By Neil Perrett
CHERRIES have parted company with QPR defender Dominic Shimmin after just 17 days at the club.
The 20-year-old's loan spell has been cut short by mutual consent, although reports suggest Shimmin has been recalled by QPR.
Although Shimmin trained with Cherries on Monday, it is understood he was reluctant to turn out in last night's scheduled Hampshire Senior Cup clash at Farnborough.
The former Arsenal trainee joined Cherries ahead of the closure of the loan transfer window last month and made his only appearance during Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Tranmere.
Speaking to the Daily Echo last night, Cherries boss Kevin Bond said: "He played on Saturday out of necessity really and it was clear he needs time.
"I asked him to play against Farnborough because he needed to play catch-up but he didn't want to.
"On the basis he didn't want to do everything he needed to do to get himself back up to speed, I thought it would be best that we called it a day."
Although Shimmin is believed to be training with Gillingham, Cherries are expected to retain his registration until the official expiry of his agreement on New Year's Eve.
The Echo was unable to contact Shimmin last night...". Daily Echo
