QPR Official Site - R'S CLINCH MILLER SIGNING
- Queens Park Rangers Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of Sunderland midfielder Liam Miller.
- The 27 year-old - who has 19 Republic of Ireland caps to his name - has today (Thursday) put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season, after the R's agreed an undisclosed fee with Sunderland for his services.
- Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Miller revealed his delight at the move, commenting: "It's a great move for me.
- "The Club is definitely heading in the right direction and when you look around the squad you can see the quality that is on offer.
- "The Manager has great ideas about where he wants to take us. The play-off's are our aim and there's no reason why we can't achieve our objectives."
- R's boss Paulo Sousa added: "Liam is an international midfielder and will give us great options in that area of the pitch.
- "He is an energetic, box-to-box player who will complement the already positive options we have in the midfield department."
- *An exclusive interview with the R's new signing will be available on QPR World in the coming days" QPR
QPR Official Site - Miller Profile
-Liam Miller began his professional career with SPL giants Celtic, making his debut against Dundee United in May 2000.
- During his time in Scotland, he enjoyed a loan spell with Danish side Aarhus in 2001/02, for whom he featured 18 times before returning to Glasgow.
Upon his return, he made a handful of appearances in 2003 for the Bhoys, before really establishing himself the following season.
- Miller made a total of 40 appearances in season 2003/04, including 10 Champions League qualifying and group fixtures - playing Bayern Munich and Lyon amongst others.
- His form for the Hoops led to him penning a pre-contract agreement with the mighty Manchester United, yet despite pulling on the famous red jersey on no fewer than 22 occasions, Miller's First Team chances were limited.
- A loan move to Leeds United followed in November 2005, before Sunderland clinched the free transfer signing of the Cork-born midfielder in the summer of 2006.
Prior to his move to Loftus Road, Miller had made 60 appearances for the Mackems; the most recent of which was as a substitute against Bolton Wanderers in late November - QPR
Dave McIntyre/Ealing Gazette - Liam Miller completes loan switch
- QPR have agreed the loan signing of Liam Miller from Sunderland but have failed with a bid to land Reading striker Leroy Lita.
- Miller trained with Rangers on Thursday after agreeing to join the club untilo the end of the season, when the midfielder's Sunderland contract is due to expire and he will be available on a Bosman free transfer.
- He is expected to make his Rs debut at Derby on Saturday.
- But Rangers' search for a striker continues after Lita rejected a move to Loftus Road.
- An approach was made to Reading but Lita, who snubbed a transfer to Sheffield United, made it clear he wanted to stay at the Madejski Stadium.
- The former England U21 is keen to secure a move to a Premier League club either this month or at the end of the season.
- Rangers also made an unsuccessful attempt to land Man United's teenage striker Danny Wellbeck. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was not willing to allow the highly-rated 19-year-old to go out on loan." Ealing Gazette
