QPR Official Site - SCOUTING FOR PEARLS
- Former 'R' Stephen Lynch has joined Jim Magilton's scouting network.
- Lynch, who spent four years at Loftus Road before leaving in 1989 for Newcastle, will work primarily in Ireland, looking to attract young talent to the Club.
- The 39 year-old is looking forward to his new role at a Club he has supported all his life.
- He told www.qpr.co.uk: "It's great to be back. I absolutely love the place and can't wait to get started."
- Lynch, who works closely with St Oliver Plunkett FC in Belfast, added: "I have a lot of contacts in the game, both in Ireland and England.
- "My aim is to find young lads with potential, and bring them to the attention of QPR."
- Lynch enjoyed a one-year YTS Apprenticeship with the R's before signing a two-year pro deal. After a 12-month spell with Newcastle, he returned to play in the Irish League for Portadown and the Crusaders.
- Now he is ready for a new challenge at the Club he holds dear.
- "I was at the first game of the season against Blackpool, and it was great to be back at Loftus Road," he said.
- "My time spent with the Club was the best four years of my life - and I've told my kids that when I die I want my ashes scattered on the pitch. The Club means so much to me."
- Meanwhile, Magilton says he is delighted to have Lynch on board.
- "Stephen is a fantastic football man," he said, "and it's great for us to have him out there looking for the best young talent Ireland has coming through.
- "I'm really pleased we've managed to bring him in." QPR

QPR Official Site - R'S SUFFER HALL INJURY BLOW
- In-form defender Fitz Hall is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a groin injury in training on Wednesday.
- The 28 year-old suffered a grade one groin muscle tear.
- Head Physio, Paul Hunter, told www.qpr.co.uk: "We sent Fitz for a scan and although the damage isn't as bad as we first feared, he's set for a spell on the sidelines.
- "It's purely a muscle strain. It's a blow, because Fitz has been looking and feeling great in the early part of the season.
- "Obviously we'll continue to monitor the situation over the next few weeks and hopefully have him back in contention sooner rather than later." QPR
SCUNTHORPE TELEGRAPH - No interest in Mahon – Iron boss
Friday, September 04, 2009
- Persistent reports from the London area linking Scunthorpe United with an interest in midfield man Gavin Mahon have been rubbished by manager Nigel Adkins.
- The 32-year-old player is currently surplus to requirements with Championship rivals QPR.
- He plays the holding role in the middle of the park and has experience at playing in the top two levels of English football.
United were reported in the London media to have made an enquiry about Mahon in July.
And a QPR insider claims a possible loan deal could be in the offing.
- It is also being suggested that Mahon could become part of a deal in January when QPR try again to prise striker Gary Hooper away from Glanford Park.
- "Where do these stories come from?" said Iron boss Nigel Adkins.
"I have never had any interest in Gavin Mahon, not in the summer and not now."
Adkins opted against adding to his squad with a permanent signing before the transfer window closed this week until January.
But the loan window opens again next week and it would be no surprise if United do bring in a new face.
- Whereas Adkins missed out on Arsenal's attacking midfielder Henri Lansbury, it seems it is defence that is the priority. Scunthorpe Telegraph
