London Informer/Paul Warburton - Under-fire Briatore considers attending QPR v Preston game
- FLAVIO Briatore is considering a return to the QPR director's box for Saturday's home game against Preston, for the first time in more than six weeks.
- The under-fire chairman escaped instant banishment by the Football League on Thursday when they met to discuss the fall-out from 'Crashgate' - and according to insiders sees no reason why he cannot resume day-to-day business at the helm of the Championship club.
- Boss Jim Magilton revealed that the Italian, banned from Formula One after being accused of fixing the result of last year's Singapore Grand Prix, has kept in touch with team affairs.
- The manager said: "Flavio's very busy at the moment - but I know his thoughts on the team and he's been very positive. Everyone at the club has rallied around and we're looking to get through all of this."
- The 59-year-old millionaire is ready to mount a legal challenge if the League finally decides he's not a 'fit and proper person' to be a director of a football club - and the cost of a counter action is also weighing heavily on League minds.
- Meanwhile, Magilton is torn between keeping Rowan Vine in his starting line-up for Saturday's home clash with Preston or swap the misfiring striker for Patrick Agyemang to face his former club.
- The Rs manager admits Vine has been short of confidence after failing to find the net in 13 attempts this season - especially as Agyemang has always performed well against Preston, including a goal at Deepdale in last season's finale.
- He said: "The one missing link in Rowan's game at the moment is goals - and we adapted to a system that suits him.
- "It's affected his confidence and it's something I have to play with before making a choice. I would have liked to have taken Rowan to Ipswich before he came to QPR, and he, like Akos Buzsaky, suffered a bad injury last year. But I have to say that Akos has settled a little bit quicker." Rehman Praised - Telegraph and Argus/Simon Parker - Gritty Bantams earn Lawn praise
Thursday 15th October 2009
- Mark Lawn believes good old-fashioned northern grit has been a key factor in City’s recent form.
- The joint-chairman is as chuffed as the fans with the way the team has been performing since the horrendous start to the campaign
"...After the trials and tribulations of last season, Lawn has noticed the close bond which is developing between the team and the fans.
- “Zesh (Rehman) is very good at getting players to do stuff and get involved in community. I can see why Stuart gave him the club captaincy.
- “He does lots with the players off the pitch as well, which is important. That breeds the team spirit and the supporters respond to that. .." Telegraph and Argus

Football League - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE TIGER CUBS
October 15, 2009
- After a hugely successful year that has seen worldwide recognition for their work, the DS Active QPR Tiger Cubs football team has celebrated its first birthday.
- Created to provide children and young people with Down's Syndrome (DS) the chance to enjoy the same benefits as their able-bodied peers, Tiger Cubs aims to improve the physical, social and emotional health of the players.
- In the last 12 months the popularity of the team has spread not only throughout the Loftus Road faithful, but across the globe following a match against Down's Syndrome Hong Kong Dragons (HKDSA Dragons).
- "The QPR Tiger Cubs is an integral part of our far reaching social responsibility programme that builds upon the QPR tradition of supporting Youth, Family and Health related causes," said Andy Evans, CEO of QPR in the Community Trust.
- "The number of children and their families that now participate in the Tiger Cubs programme is incredible and the benefits for both the child and their families will be long lasting.
- "The very warm reception from our fans during the half time activities at the recent home match against Barnsley was the most heart warming 10 minutes I have experienced at a football ground in a long time."
- During a very busy first year, BBC London News broadcast a joint training exercise between the Cubs and Fulham Badgers in November 2008 and a month later the QPR Youth Team celebrated Christmas with the Cubs at a training session.
- The Cubs and the QPR First Team joined forces to mark this year's annual World Downs Syndrome Day on 21 March when each country holds their own celebrations.
- Also earlier this year, three unique football teams played in front of over 1,000 spectators during the Down's Syndrome Association's annual six-a-side charity tournament at Stamford Bridge.
- The competition included the showpiece match with a Badgers and Cubs joint team taking on special guests HKDSA Dragons.
- The Tiger Cubs meet every Monday night and welcome young people aged from five to 25 with DS at their hour-and-a-half long sessions which attract on average between 20 and 30 participants a week.
- For more information about the DS Tiger Cubs or to make a donation, please contact andye@qpr.co.uk or athonyd@qpr.co.uk" Football League
QPR Official Site - WAITING GAME FOR ROWLY
- Martin Rowlands will be sent for a scan this morning (Thursday) after suffering a knee injury in his country's World Cup Qualifier with Montenegro last night.
- The R's captain was stretchered off five minutes before half-time in the goalless draw, and must now play a waiting game before discovering the full extent of the injury.
- Head Physio Paul Hunter told www.qpr.co.uk: "We'll have a look at him when he comes to the training ground today, and then take him for a scan.
- "Obviously we will know more once we get those results back. It's too early to speculate at this stage as to the seriousness of the problem."
- It's a bitter pill to swallow for the 30-year-old, who was making his first start for the national team.
- "I spoke with the Republic of Ireland Physio Alan Byrne last night, and I also spoke with Martin," Hunter added.
- "He seemed alright, but was understandably frustrated.
- "We will know more in the next 24 hours." QPR
