WAYNE Routledge will play through the excruciating pain of an abscess on his tooth so QPR’s promotion push remains on track against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Boss Neil Warnock admitted he was praying 24 hours-worth of antibiotics had done their job on last Friday’s match-winner at Reading, for which the on-loan Newcastle winger was named in the Championship team of the week.
However, the manager was unsure even at this late stage whether Routledge needed to have the troublesome tooth extracted.
He said: "We’re confident the tablets will work - but whether Wayne needs to have it out is still to be decided.
“I hope not for the time being - because he’s been great for us over the last couple of matches." Fulham Chronicle

It’s a big game for Rangers on Sunday, and I wonder whether Neil Warnock will make a change at the back.
Forest are a good side, which is stating the obvious given that they’re second in the table. But they’re also one whose strengths could be a particular problem for QPR.
They have the Championship’s best example of what I’ve long thought Rangers have a particular problem against: an energetic midfield. They also have plenty of pace in attack, which is something else QPR could potentially struggle with but haven’t been exposed to much.
With the likes of Earnshaw, Anderson, Tudgay, Tyson, Mcleary and McGoldrick to call upon, Forest have pace and movement in abundance.
Away from home, it would maybe be easier for Rangers to deal with this. But at Loftus Road, where they’ll be expected to attack and the game could become more stretched, it may be a problem.
That’s not to say QPR aren’t a threat in their own right. They will offer plenty to trouble Forest and are seven points clear at the top for a very good reason.
But as they say in boxing, styles make fights, and regardless of Forest’s excellent recent form, they just happen to have a style that could cause Rangers a headache.
They will definitely be aware of that and keen to attack Rangers’ back four, which, like it or not, some do see as vulnerable despite what the stats suggest.
For that reason, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pascal Chimbonda start the game, possibly in place of Bradley Orr.
Chimbonda played around 70 minutes of Tuesday’s reserve-team friendly at Tottenham, and I’m told did well. If he’s deemed fit enough, I reckon he might get the nod.
Dan Shittu lasted a few minutes longer on Tuesday before coming off. He’s another option for Warnock, although Gorkss and Connolly will be tougher to dislodge.
The important thing for Rangers is that Shittu has now played in a couple of matches and his hamstring has held up. That’s an encouraging sign ahead of the all-important run-in, when he could well be called upon.
