HITCHCOCK SIGNS DEAL
Posted on: Tue 03 Apr 2012

QPR have moved to sign England youth international Tom Hitchcock on a one-year deal.

The 19 year-old striker, formerly with Blackburn Rovers before leaving the Club in January, has put pen-to-paper on a professional contract until June 2013.

Born in Hemel Hempstead, Hitchcock was originally part of Watford's youth system.

He then joined Blackburn at the age of 12 along with his father, Kevin, who was then Goalkeeping Coach at Rovers - and is now, of course, part of Mark Hughes's coaching staff at Loftus Road.

Hitchcock enjoyed a three-month loan spell at Plymouth Argyle at the start of this season - including a pre-season friendly outing against Rangers - before returning to Ewood Park.

The young forward was released by Rovers at the turn of the year but, after a successful trial period in W12, Hitchcock will now remain with Rangers until next summer at least.

Speaking with www.qpr.co.uk, Hitchcock told us: "I'm delighted to have another chance at a Premier League Football Club.

"I'm looking forward to it. It's good times for QPR and the Club's going in the right direction. There is a lot of promise here.

"Birch (Youth Development Assistant Manager, Marc Bircham) has been helping me every day in training and has been great with me.

"I've fitted in really well with the lads. There are some good players here."QPR
