 TONY FERNANDES SPEAKS

We've had a 'disastrous year', admits Fernandes as QPR stare at relegation By DUNCAN BECH, PRESS ASSOCIATION PUBLISHED: 13:41 GMT, 5 April 2013 | UPDATED: 16:14 GMT, 5 April 2013

Tony Fernandes has admitted that QPR have had a 'disastrous year' and defended how much money has been put into the club. Replying to to fans on Twitter, the Rangers owner was open about the problems the club have been facing, but also asked for more effort from supporters to get behind his regime. One tweet said: 'By all accounts it has been a disastrous year for QPR on the pitch. But so much has been done off it. One year does not make a future. And its not over yet this season.' Reality check: Tony Fernandes has usually been upbeat about QPR's situation QPR currently sit 19th, seven points from safety, and have a tough run-in with matches against Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool.

In response to a message about how the club can be in a stable financial position when they are making big losses, Fernandes took a defensive approach. 'I have been an open honest hardworking chairman who along with my other shareholders have put their money where their mouth is. A bit of positive energy would not go amiss for you.' Since the start of the season QPR have spent nearly £45million and paid out a huge amount in wages to players such as Chris Samba, Esteban Granero, Loic Remy and Julio Cesar. Drifting away:

QPR's defeat at the hands of Fulham meant they are now seven points from safety Manager Harry Redknapp has accceped Sunday's clash with Wigan is critical to QPR's survival in the Premier League, but refuses to relinquish hope even if they lose. Successive defeats by Aston Villa and Fulham have left Rangers in a dire position, but Redknapp wants his team to share his conviction that they can stay in the top flight. 'When I stop believing, the players will stop believing.

If I send out the wrong message they'll down tools, thinking we've had it,' he said. 'I don't feel we've had it. I couldn't tell you the pleasure keeping QPR up would give me. It would be fantastic. Heads up: Harry Redknapp wants his players to fight until the very end to preserve their Premier League status 'We must win' says Redknapp ahead of crunch clash with Wigan 'We have to keep going - we've got to beat Wigan. There's nothing else for it, we have to beat them. "Nothing else but a win would be any good to us. We need to win and keep winning. We need to win four or five games - it's a tall order but not impossible. 'But if we don't win on Sunday we won't give up because there'll be six games left and we could still win all six. You don't give up, you have to keep going.'

Fernandes stated on Thursday night that he wants Redknapp to stay even if QPR slip into the Championship, a prospect that is agreeable to his 66-year-old manager. 'We've never discussed relegation. We've never thought about relegation. We're positive and still believe we can get out of it,' Redknapp said. 'We haven't looked at next season, players or anything else. We still have a job to do this year. 'It's up to the owners and the chairman if I stay on. I'm happy here, it's a good club with good people. I love it here. 'If Tony Fernandes wants me to stay I'll stay. I've not been one for moving around that much. 'If I could have four years at QPR I'd be delighted, but I'd have to be successful to stay here. If I can do well here I'd love to stay.'

Samba, the Congo centre back signed for £12.5m in January, will have a key role to play if QPR are to escape relegation. Two errors on Monday night gifted Fulham a 3-2 win at Craven Cottage but Redknapp has leapt to the defence of the 29-year-old, who has been the subject of abuse on Twitter. 'Samba had a nightmare to be fair, but he was absolutely brilliant when we won at Southampton,' he said. 'It was one of the best performances from a defender I've seen for years. He's a top player who could play for any side in the top four. 'He had a bad night against Fulham but he's not the first defender I've seen make mistakes. On Sunday I'm sure we'll see the Samba we're used to seeing.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footbal....#ixzz2PcUugjZX

Relive London Call-In in association with EQ8 energy drink... IT WAS another jam packed London Call-In, in association with EQ8, on Thursday evening as the show was joined exclusively by QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes. The Rangers supremo revealed his desire to retain the services of boss Harry Redknapp even if the R’s are relegated this season in an interview. He also confirmed that he didn’t envisage wholesale squad changes this summer whilst once again reaffirming his long-term commitment to the club. Along with Tony’s exclusive chat, Rangers legend Terry Fenwick joined us on the line all the way from Trinidad.

Incredibly, it is 31 years ago this week since QPR beat West Brom in the FA Cup semi-final at Highbury so we took a stroll down memory lane. The former defender reflected on that 1982 FA Cup run, including his goal in the final against Tottenham at Wembley plus some other great memories from his time in W12. Our team looked back at Monday’s disappointing defeat at Fulham whilst also previewing Sunday’s clash with Wigan Athletic at Loftus Road. We also took the cameras along to Harlington recently to follow a very special R’s supporter as he spent the day with the QPR first team. If that wasn’t enough we also had some fantastic calls from our loyal supporters offering their views on the Hoops. Committed to Queens Park Rangers for Life Posted: 04/04/2013 00:00 They say you make your own luck in professional sport. I can't say I disagree with that to be honest, but sometimes things just don't go your way for one reason or another. This season, at Queens Park Rangers, we've definitely suffered our fair share of bad luck. These aren't excuses, they are facts.

We lost Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson at a time when they were really starting to gel again, showing signs of the great partnership they sparked up at Fulham before joining us. Losing them both to injury was a bitter pill to swallow and whilst we've welcomed Bobby back into the team in recent weeks, even though he's not 100% fit, AJ's absence has hit us hard. I firmly believe their injuries have had a big impact on our season. Then we lost our captain, Ryan Nelsen, in February. That was bad luck because he had been fantastic for us, leading by example week after week and producing one solid performance after another at the heart of our defence. No one envisaged him moving into coaching during the season but the opportunity to manage Toronto was just too good for him to turn down and we reluctantly allowed him to move on with our best wishes after he gave everything during his short spell with us,

On the pitch, we've had three penalties this season and missed them all. Adel Taarabt missed a crucial spot-kick against Norwich earlier this season and the latest saw Loic Remy's effort saved by Mark Schwarzer at Fulham on Monday night. Call it bad luck. Call it misfortune. Call it what you like. But whilst those things have gone against us, we still remain focused and determined on achieving our short, medium and long term objectives at the club. In Harry Redknapp, we have one of the great English managers of this or any other generation. Harry is a special man and a great character of the game. We are very lucky to have him at the club.

We also have a very talented squad of players, with the January additions of Christopher Samba and Loic Remy - to name just two - further evidence of how far we have come at the club in such a short space of time. At times this season we have played some fantastic, free-flowing attacking football and on our day we have proven what a good side we are. Our win at Chelsea was extra special for our fantastic, loyal supporters, who packed into the away end and make some incredible noise throughout the 90 minutes. Wins like that are special and one of the many reasons I love being chairman of our great club. But I've said before that I learn more about being chairman when things aren't going our way. I look back to the heavy defeats we suffered at Chelsea and Fulham last season and the way in which the Rangers fans supported the team to the very end.

That's what fills me with pride and that's the reason this club has got under my skins much in the last 18 months or so. This is not a one-year or two-year project at QPR. This is a lifelong commitment. We need a new training ground, a new stadium and a more successful academy. The path in front of us is exciting. With a little bit of luck along the way, I am confident we can fulfil the dreams of the R's supporters over the coming weeks, months and years. club huff.to/14PuA3N Follow Tony Fernandes on Twitter:

www.twitter.com/tonyfernandes TALKSPORT Exclusive - Kevin Gallen claims he was lied to and had to 'watch his back' at QPR By talkSPORT | Friday, April 5, 2013

Kevin Gallen has revealed he was lied to during his time as an academy coach at QPR and admits he was ‘always watching his back’ at Loftus Road. The former Loftus Road strike star left the west London club in mid-August, when he was sacked by email by former technical director Mike Rigg, and confesses it was not a pleasant environment under the management regime of Mark Hughes.

Neil Warnock told talkSPORT earlier this week he hoped Hughes would succeed him at Leeds so he could ‘destroy another of my teams’, and Gallen has now added his own damning assessment of the Welshman’s time in charge.

He said: “When I was at the club, we had a meeting about the academy and [technical director] Mike Rigg came in and said to us our transfer policy is going to be a lot different , we’re going to sign young players with a lot of sell on value, something the previous management team had not done. “And then the next month we signed Ji Sung Park, Julio Cesar, Jose Bosingwa, Ryan Nelsen and Andy Johnson. “I’ve been in football a long time and there are a lot of people who tell a lot of porky pies and can con a lot of people. But I believed him.” It wasn’t a nice place to work. You were always watching your back — Kevin Gallen

Gallen also claims Rigg was the man in control of football affairs at Loftus Road. “I was there until mid-August [2012] and he was running the club,” he added in an interview with QPR podcast ‘Open All Rs. “Players like Joey Barton, Luke Young, DJ Campbell and Jay Bothroyd were all told by Mike Rigg, ‘you’ve got to train at 9 o’clock and then come back at 4 o’clock’, because they wanted them out. “That’s fair enough, but can’t you just say, ‘you’re not going to play, try to find another club’. “But if you are made to come in before the first-team and then leave before they arrive at 11 o’clock, and then come back at 4 o’clock and do half an hour just to annoy you, players are going to dig their heels in and say, ‘I’m staying where I am’. “And that culture went through the staff. It wasn’t a nice place to work. You were always watching your back.” by Taboola http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/130405/exclusive-kevin-gallen-claims-he-was-lied-and-had-watch-his-back-qpr-195051#l7WpS7u5mPIM325G.02#ixzz2Pea3H8fH
