London Informer/Paul Warburton - QPR focus their attention on tried and tested Curbishley
- QPR ARE hoping to persuade Alan Curbishley his future lies at Loftus Road.
- Rangers have turned their attentions to the former West Ham manager in a bid to persuade him to drop down a division and reignite their drive towards the Premiership next season.
- Privately, Rangers are worried the 51-year-old still hankers for a return to the Premiership since he parted company with the Hammers last September - but they will do all they can to make him think Loftus Road has what it takes to host a top-flight club.
- As much as Rangers want caretaker boss Gareth Ainsworth to continue as a coach and occasional player, the club's leanings are now towards appointing a tried-andtested Londoner, who knows what it takes to bring the best out of a Championship side - as Curbishley did at Charlton during the 90s.
- And Rangers, with a dismal track record of seven managers in just over two-and-a-half years, are hoping to get it right this time.
- A source close to the board admitted Rangers would weigh up all the options before appointing a new man - one that was unlikely to be from outside Britain.
- The source said: "I'm not sure QPR has profited from the two foreign managers the club has had so far. The Championship is a difficult league - and it needs someone who knows about English football at this level from day one.
- "But Curbishley? It would need special negotiation to make it happen - although the proven experience he would bring, would have to interest the club." London Informer
London Informer - Delaney set for shock summer departure from QPR
- DAMIAN DELANEY is set to be a surprise casualty of a QPR summer clear out that will see up to six play-ers heading for the exit.
- The Irish international defender, who cost Rs £1.75million from Hull in January last year, played no part in most of April's games and only returned for the last game of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Preston on Sunday, because defender Damion Stewart aggravated a groin injury. Delaney did, however, play 40 games last season, but also picked up nine yellow cards. His replacement, Gary Borrowdale, has been waiting in the wings since he signed last November, but the former Coventry left-back was not given a chance to impress by former boss Paulo Sousa.
- Rangers will want back the bulk of the fee they played for Delaney, while they have been impressed by the progress shown by Matt Connolly when he's played out of position on the left side of defence.
- Meanwhile, midfielder Jordi Lopez will have his wage demands turned down to re-sign a new contract next season, while the Spaniard's team-mate in the centre of the park, Liam Miller, is due to return to Sunderland, from where he came on loan in January.
- Sammi Di Carmine has also been sent back to Fiorentina after his loan deal expired this week, and striker Dexter Blackstock and keeper Lee Camp are the subjects of a joint £2.8m move to Nottingham Forest" London Informer
