QPR OFFICIAL SITE - MAGILTON: I WANT A WINNING MENTALITY
- Jim Magilton is determined to see the R's go on a Cup run this campaign, starting tonight when he takes his team to League One outfit Exeter City in the Carling Cup.
- Prior to last season, Cup runs at Loftus Road have been few and far between.
- In fact, when the R's faced Manchester United in the Fourth Round of the Carling Cup last term, it was the first time they had overcome three Cup ties in 14 years.
- In 1994/95, the R's reached the Quarter-Final of the FA Cup (Round Six), having entered in Round Three.
- The last time they managed such a feat in the League Cup was back in season 1988/89, when they overcame Cardiff City, Charlton and Wimbledon to play Nottingham Forest in Round Five, having entered in Round Two.
- And R's boss Magilton is eager to see the progress of last season continue when it comes to Cup competitions.
- "I'm looking for a Cup run," he told www.qpr.co.uk. "I want us to get into a winning mentality.
- "It will be a strong team tonight, without any shadow of a doubt.
- "There were a lot of lads disappointed not to take part on Saturday against Blackpool, so they will be used this evening.
- "It's very important that we give them game time, but we're going to Exeter looking to win.
- "I know it is going to be extremely difficult. Paul Tisdale's teams are always very, very good but we are ready for the challenge."

QPR OFFICIAL SITE - MATCHDAY PREVIEW: GRECIANS
- Rangers kick start their Carling Cup adventure this evening with a trip to St James' Park - the home of Exeter City.
- Following hot on the heels of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Blackpool in the Championship, the R's will be keen to register their first victory of the campaign, and with it, book their place in the next round.
- Exeter, buoyed by back-to-back promotions in recent years, were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Leeds United in League One on Saturday. Jermaine Beckford's brace clinched victory for the Whites, with the winner arriving two minutes from time.
- Team News
Jim Magilton will be forced to make changes for the trip to St James' Park.
Martin Rowlands (ankle) is out, whilst Heidar Helguson and Adel Taarabt are on international duty.
- Alejandro Faurlin (thigh) and Lee Cook (knee) remain sidelined, but Mikele Leigertwood is in the squad following a recent thigh strain, whilst Alessandro Pellicori has received his international clearance and could feature for the R's.
- Exeter have a striker crisis - with no fewer than three front-men missing due to injury.
- Adam Stansfield (knee), Richard Logan (calf) and Ben Watson (calf) are all ruled out for Paul Tisdale's men, whilst new signing Barry Corr will start his suspension following his sending off at Elland Road on Saturday.
Star Man
Richard DUFFY - Defender
Despite his tender years, summer signing Richard Duffy has a wealth of experience in the top leagues, during spells with Portsmouth, Coventry City and Millwall.
An established defender, who is capable of playing at full back as well as in the heart of the defence, Duffy made his Grecians debut against Leeds United last weekend.
Previous encounter
QPR 1, Exeter City 0 - March 12th 1966 - Division Three (old)

Alex Stock's line-up was as follows: Springett; Langley, Hunt, Sibley, Watson; Lazarus, Keen, Collins, R. Morgan; Allen, Leach.
Rangers ran out 1-0 victors, courtesy of Les Allen's goal.
