Next QPR at Home to Crystal Palace
QPR play Crystal Palace tomorrow night. Palace were smashed 0-4 at home by Scunthorpe which means they're going to be enraged. The ref tomorrow is M P RUSSELL
- Last season, QPR had two 0-0 draws against Crystal Palace.
- The last time, QPR played Crystal Palace, at Lofus Road was almost six months ago, in early April. However, the big news was made off the field (although not reported on the Official Site). After the match, Sousa spoke about not being informed about Dexter Blackstock's loan to Nottingham Forest. The tabloids were full of stories about Sousa set to be axed. Sousa's Assistant manager was axed. A few days later, came those "fortuitously"-reported comments supposedly made by Sousa to a fan, which a fan site posted (and kept posted); along with certain "rebuttals" to what Sousa's supposedly said. (Further flashback details below)
The teams for our last Crystal Palace game:
QPR: Cerny, Delaney, Leigertwood, Routledge, Gorkss, Ramage, Connolly, Miller, Di Carmine, Ephraim, Taarabt. Subs: Stewart, Vine, Cook, Balanta, Alberti.

Players who played for both teams is a lengthy list: The current QPR squad has Leighertwood, Routledge, Hall, and Watson. (In the past, think Venables, Dowie, Fenwick, Lazarus, Allen, Wicks, Burridge, Francis, Sealy, Silkman, Flanagan, Evans etc. And managerial: Venables and Mullery!]
Crystal Palace manager, Neil Warnock Post Saturday's Match Comments:
Crystal Palace official Site - Warnock: "An Embarrassment"
- Neil Warnock watched embarrassed as his side suffered a heavy defeat against a side who hadn't picked up any points on the road in the Championship this season.
- "I hope the lads go home tonight as embarrassed as me. We can't play like that. I can't think of a bigger embarrassment in my career.
- "All you can do is apologise to the fans who I thought were terrific. I would crucify the manager if I was one of them after that."
- His team came out for the second half already a goal behind but the boss thought his team then gifted victory to the newly promoted side.
= "I don't think Scunthorpe have scored a good goal. I'm not knocking them, we absolutely put it on a plate for them. They must think they won the pools. I have got the lads in on Sunday and we must now work at how we can turn this around in midweek at QPR. As manager it is my challenge to make sure we put on a good show for the travelling support on Tuesday night". Crystal Palace Official Site-
Flashback: Sousa's Axing
"Sousa's post-Crystal Palace match comments - not on the QPR Official Site ]
Northampton Chronicle: "QPR boss Paulo Sousa has confirmed leading goalscorer Dexter Blackstock was loaned to Nottingham Forest without his knowledge.
- "Blackstock has hit 12 goals for Rangers this season and was badly missed as the west Londoners' faint play-off hopes took another dent with a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace today.
- Sousa was informed only by sporting director Gianni Paladini that Blackstock was joining their Coca-Cola Championship rivals last week - a decision apparently made by owner Flavio Briatore.
- It left Sousa with young Italian Samuel Di Carmine as his only fully-fit striker against Palace - and the Portuguese coach's frustration boiled over when he was sent to the stands just before half-time.
- "I gave the players two days off after the Bristol City game and when I came back Mr Paladini told me he had an agreement (for Blackstock) to go on loan," said Sousa.
- "It is a decision for the board and only they can answer it. I'm not frustrated, I said from the first day I have to adapt and try to do my best with the players I have."- Sousa, usually one of the coolest customers on the touchline, lost his rag at the treatment being dished out by Palace's giant defender Claude Davis on Di Carmine."
