Distressing: The Club's Lack of an Apology For Last Night's
- Maybe I overestimated our club.
I thought that last night's "confusion" re game on and game off and the brief statements made would be followed up by a profuse apology from the Club leadership accompanied by a full explanation about what actually occurred and why. Even though Watford last night was able to post a fairly lengthy statement from their manger, Malky Mackay. while nothing further was forthcoming from QPR (except for the accompanying photo of the pitch).
Obviously for myself, attending the game was never an option. And in in terms of I feared another loss, I was actually glad that the game was cancelled. But many, many QPR fans (and many Watford fans) were already en route, and laid out time and money, to get to Loftus Road.
Games get cancelled. Fields get waterlogged. Sh** happens. And one has to accept that, even if one moans. But there is absolutely no reason that the club has not come out with that apology and explanation both for the game being cancelled and for their earlier misleading "Game On" Statement .Sorry and thanks would go a long way. And not just an anonymous posting on the Official Site: But from our Chairman.
I genuinely expected that QPR would come out with some sort of statement.
But thus far nothing, no apology, no explanation. Just "business as usual"posts. Maybe as I write, so do they. (Maybe after reading this, they'll post something!)
All that the club has said thus far on its official site:
(First: "GAME ON: - Tonight's match against Watford at Loftus Road is on despite adverse weather conditions, although a precautionary pitch inspection will take place by 6pm. At this stage, there is no risk of the game being postponed." Followed by " GAME OFF: Tonight's match against Watford at Loftus Road has been postponed due to torrential rain. A new date for this fixture will be announced in due course")

Neil Warnock/Crystal Palace Official Site - Warnock: I Am Not Distracted
Posted on: Wed 17 Feb 2010
Neil Warnock says that recent speculation linking him to the QPR managerial role has not distracted him from the preparation for forthcoming games.
What started out as a rumour swiftly evolved into media backed speculation and has refused to go away. But Neil is refusing to be swerved by the attention and is remaining focussed on Palace's busy league schedule:
"It is not really a distraction. I think I have been linked around 15 times over the years with them [QPR] and every time they have changed managers.
"It is one of things that happens. It [his position at Palace] is very insecure at the moment. It is not a very nice situaton that we find ourselves in and we will just have to do the best we can with what we have got at the minute.
"I won't pay any attention until they actually speak to the club, that goes for anybody ...[until] then my job is solely here and looking at these games coming up; and you are not going to get tougher, more enjoyable games than the next three."
Tonight Palace face a Reading side very much in peak form with three wins from their last three league games and a credible draw against West Brom in the FA Cup on Saturday.
In the last fixture between the two sides the Eagles ran out convincing 4-2 winners, but will be going into tonight's game without the formidable Victor Moses who was pivotal at Loftus Road.
"I am [looking forward to the game] but I have to say Victor Moses was unplayable that night. He was out of this world and that is what Victor was like in the latter stages of his career here.
"But we played quite well as well. It will be a good game. They are buzzing as well. They are in the throes of a good cup run as well so I think it has all the makings of a good game and I am looking forward to it."
Had Palace not have been placed into administration, tonight's game would have been a chance for the Eagles to establish themselves in the play off places. Instead three points will be a huge step further away from a closing relegation zone, which Neil admits has been the most difficult aspect to take of going into receivership.
"We thought we were going to be getting into the play off places with this game and now we are now trying to get away from the other end.
"That is one thing that has really hurt me. At my stage in my career I am not going to get too many more opportunitites to get promotion, and to have the carpet whipped from under me is devastating.
"I still don't understand why we have been put into administration. The guy who has put us in who is owed money he has not been paid, or is anywhere near getting paid it. So I don't understand why we had to lose points. It just seems like such a needless exercise for everyone at the club and once again myself, the staff and the players have been punished for it." SOUTH LONDON/Richard Cawley - Exclusive: Palace administrator will reject Warnock approaches
- THE administrator running Crystal Palace has said he will reject any approach for boss Neil Warnock - amid growing rumours that QPR are set to make an official move for his services.
- The Eagles manager is unhappy with the uncertainty over his future after the club were placed into administration at the end of January.
- But administrator Brendan Guilfoyle told the South London Press he is ready to dismiss any approaches for other clubs.
- He said: "We've not had anything officially but if we get get a phonecall I think we would decline it.
- "He's our manager and we need him to make sure we don't end up in the relegation zone. But if Neil makes the decision he wants to go then I'm in a very difficult position.
- "I understand my appointment creates uncertainty so the sooner I can get a purchaser in to tell Neil if he figures in their plans the better."
- Don't miss Friday's South London Press for a full interview with Guilfoyle on the latest developments in selling the club. South London
