- Neil Warnock Quoted in The Times: "...Queens Park Rangers will be only part way to securing Neil Warnock as their new manager if they agree a compensation deal with Crystal Palace. “Nothing is cut and dried,” the Palace manager said. “If and when they reach [an] agreement, it doesn’t mean that anything automatically follows. I would still have a decision to make.” Times

Liverpool have dramatically won the race for QPR's young England starlet Raheem Sterling - beating Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham to get him.
The 15-year-old has agreed to join the Kop in a major coup and was finalising the deal yesterday despite rival offers from some of the biggest names in English football.
And it took a personal call from Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish - currently academy director and club ambassador at Anfield - to finally convince Sterling into signing.
Sterling shot to fame after Rangers put him on standby to make his debut - as People Sport first revealed - and the attacking midfielder has thrilled the talent spotters.
Arsenal, Fulham and City all made offers for him and United youth chief Brian McClair was at the last two Rangers youth team games.
But Liverpool, who were always the player's first choice, finally agreed to come up with a deal for him and will pay Rangers around £750,000 up front, rising to more than double if he makes the grade.
United pulled out at the death and insiders in the deal said: "It has all been a bit messy, with various agents trying to get involved. But in the end the kid is going where he wants - and QPR have got a good price." People
News of the World/Aidan Magee - Rangers kid Raheem Sterling signs for the Reds
- LIVERPOOL have completed the £500,000 signing of QPR teenager Raheem Sterling.
- The Reds beat off competition from Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Fulham to sign the striker, who only turned 15 in December.
- Liverpool confirmed last night that they have made an initial down payment. The fee will rise, depending on appearances, to a figure believed to be £2million.
- Sterling will join up with Liverpool's academy players this week. He has not played a first-team game for Rangers.
- The England Under-16 international was a VIP guest at Anfield for Liverpool's win over Manchester United earlier this season. But he was also spoken to by Arsenal's academy director Liam Brady and watched by United's Brian McClair.
- City were prepared to offer £1m plus two players to capture Sterling, who has been compared to Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott at that age.
- Fulham thought they had struck a £1.5m deal with QPR which would have spared Sterling the trouble of moving home. But Rangers were not keen to sell to their west London neighbours.

Sunday Mercury/Andy Walker - West Brom's Ben Watson tips Neil Warnock to make a success of QPR
- ALBION new-boy Ben Watson expects to see ex-boss Neil Warnock in the Loftus Road dugout next weekend, after insisting that he’s the man to sort out QPR.
The versatile midfielder arrived at the Hawthorns last week on loan until the end of the season from Wigan Athletic.
The 24-year-old has had a miserable time of late with the Latics having tasted just 33 minutes of first-team football in 2010, before yesterday’s match-up with Derby, and he’s looking to use his stint with the Baggies as a chance to put himself in the shop window.
This is Watson’s second spell out on loan this season, having had a glimpse of the madhouse that is QPR between September and January.
The ex-England Under-21 international won’t have to wait long to face his former Hoops team-mates, as Albion travel to Loftus Road next Saturday.
And there looks set to be another reunion on the cards – with his former Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock.
The controversial Eagles boss is expected to cross London and take charge of QPR this week.
Watson admits that Warnock is the best manager he’s ever worked under and has hailed the Yorkshireman as the ideal candidate to help QPR realise the potential that has been stored away ever since the 2007 takeover that saw them dubbed one of the richest clubs in the world.
“I’m 110 per cent sure that Neil Warnock would do a job at QPR, if anyone can sort that club out then it will be himself,” insisted Watson. “It will be interesting to see what happens.
“I loved him, we had a good relationship and I enjoyed playing under him. It was a good experience and probably an experience that you won’t have again. All in all, I had a fantastic time with him.
“He’s got both sides to him. If you put it in for him on the pitch then he won’t have a problem. If you don’t then you have a problem.
“In general, he’s a top manager as he’s proved at this level with the promotions he’s had and it wouldn’t surprise me if he got that job.
I had a great time at QPR so I’ve got nothing against the club and I look forward to going back there.
“Towards the end of my spell there it got a bit mad when the gaffer Jim Magilton got sacked.
“They just need to let a manager get on with it, they need to settle down.
“The set-up is alright but success won’t come overnight and they need to give a manager a chance because at the moment they’re in a relegation scrap.”
Having come through the Palace ranks under a succession of managers, it was Warnock that helped Watson produce the performances that paved the way for his move to a Premier League club.
Watson continued: “Trevor Francis gave me my debut, then Iain Dowie came in and that was when I played some good football.
“But I probably played my best under Warnock.
“When he came in to Palace, my career was at a standstill and he gave me that injection of energy and it all went from there.”
Watson is now looking for a fresh injection of energy with the promotion-chasing Baggies.
Having been signed by Steve Bruce in January 2009, Watson’s time at Wigan started well.
However, the departure of Bruce to Sunderland and the arrival of Roberto Martinez, signalled the start of a misery in Greater Manchester.
“I was injured at the time I got the move to Wigan and then got myself fit and played a few games and scored a few goals. It was going well.
“But then a manager leaves and a new manager comes in with new ideas and new players and I just haven’t fitted into his team.
“Now I just see this move to West Brom as an opportunity to play in a good team and at the end of the day you never know what might happen.”
Before joining Wigan, Watson was linked to a series of clubs, with Middlesbrough and QPR known to have made firm offers.
However, Watson has no regrets about leaving his boyhood club to head to the DW Stadium.
“No regrets,” he insists. “At the time it was the right move for myself.
“But when a new manager comes in he brings his own ideas and obviously I’m not in those ideas at the moment.
“Hopefully now I’m here at the Hawthorns I can play some games and put myself in the shop window.” Sunday Mercury
