Totally Jewish - Israeli Dani Marks will have a trial with Championship side QPR next week, with the 16-year-old hoping to realise 'a dream' by signing for a London team.
- Dani, who was born in Hampstead Garden Suburb, but made Aliyah when he was four-years-old, joined Hapoel Raanana when he was seven, and has won the player of the year award at the club four times. Having started his career as a right-back, he moved to the centre of defence at the start of the season, and is now hoping to impress the West London side next week.
- Brian Melzack, of CB Sports Management helped orchestrate the move after he was sent a DVD of Marks from an Israeli business partner. He passed it on to his contacts at QPR, who requested he have a trial. Marks will train with QPRs U18 side for five days next week, before playing for the U16 side at Brighton next weekend.
- Melzack told TJ: Its very difficult to say how well hell do. With respect to Israeli football, the standard isnt as good in comparison to over here in England, but as the clich goes, if hes good enough, hell be ok. Dani's really looking forward to the week here and would like to play in London.
- Having had a trial at a League One club last year, Oldham Athletic have invited him for a trial this summer. He was also invited to have a trial at Cypriot side Apoel Nicosia last year, and has already been scouted by several Israeli sides.
- Dani's father, Stephen, told TJ: :He's really excited and looking forward to the trial. He wants to impress and really wants to play in England. Totally Jewish
