QPR aim for Equality Standard
QPR are working towards achieving the Equality Standard For Professional Football Clubs.
Chief executive Philip Beard (pictured) has signed Rangers up to the plan, demonstrating the club’s commitment to promoting all forms of equality.
The Equality Standard sets out a series of key objectives related to all areas of a club’s operation, from stewarding to staff recruitment and the development of young players.
Clubs are also encouraged to identify new target markets and fans of the future, and develop projects targeted at under-represented communities and individuals.
Developed by Kick it Out, the initiative is backed by football’s governing bodies as well was the National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS), The Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation (WSFF), Stonewall, The Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN), as well as The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
To achieve the Equality Standard, clubs must produce a written equality action-plan and an equal opportunities policy. They must also seek to make stadiums free from discrimination and accessible to the local community.
An independent accreditation panel led by Kick It Out chairman Lord Herman Ouseley will decide whether Rangers will be awarded the kite mark.

RUNNING LONDON MARATHON FOR CANCER CHARITY
Got this request to post:
Dear QPR report,
I'm hoping you can help me. I'm running the London Marathon on Sunday in memory of a student of mine who died of Cancer last year. I'm running for the teenage Cancer trust and I'll be wearing the hoops as I run round. Is there any chance that you could put a link on your blog as it might help bring in a little more sponsorship? I now teach down in Blandford in Dorset but I used to teach at Queensmead School in South Ruislip and as quite a lot of the students there were Rangers fans I'm hoping a few might see the link etc!
The local press down here carried the following:
On 22nd April Richard Opalka, a teacher at the Blandford School is running the London Marathon in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Danny Coker, a Blandford School student who very sadly passed away last year. If anyone would like to sponsor Richard there is a website:

Charity Teenage Cancer Trust
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with Cancer every day. We build specialist units within NHS hospitals bringing young people together to be treated by teenage Cancer experts in a place designed just for them. We want every young person with Cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live. Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated during treatment, some never meeting another young person with Cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their whole experience. Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about Cancer to ensure a swift diagnosis and referral to specialist support. Cancer in young people is rare but we want young people to know the common signs and symptoms so they can seek medical advice if they are worried. We rely solely on donations to fund our vital work. You can help transform the lives of young people with Cancer. Visit www.teenageCancertrust.org to find out how.

Dear All, thanks for visiting my page. I'm running the London Marathon on 22nd April in memory of Danny Coker. For those who don't know Danny, Danny was a student I was lucky enough to teach for four years at the Blandford School. Very sadly Danny was diagnosed with Cancer in the summer of 2010 and passed away in May of 2011 after an extremely brave fight against the illness. Before Danny died he asked if any money raised in his memory could go to the teenage Cancer trust and in particular their work at Southampton General Hospital where their work and support made such a difference to him.
I would love to raise £2000 (or more!) from running the marathon. This is part of a wider attempt to raise over £10,000 for the teenage Cancer trust. A number of events have already happened, organised by members of Danny's family, his friends and staff at school. His sister Amy has set up a website in memory of Danny, that I would encourage you to have a look at. The address is:
http://www.dannycoker.co.uk/
Feel free to suggest ideas for what I should wear when I run, otherwise I'll definitely end up running in my QPR top again - not sure how Danny would feel about that as a Chelsea fan!
One last thing - my current Year 13 Economics class suggested that we did a 24 hour Economics lesson as revision for their exams in memory of Danny, as it was his favourite subject - fortunately it's now down to 12 hours (on 31st May) - so we'll also be using this page to collect any sponsorship they raise closer to that date.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

“Chelsea Football Club is extremely disappointed that a
very small minority of fans embarrassed the club today by not honouring
the moment’s silence before kick-off.
“Chelsea FC believes all
moments of respect should be honoured and today we pay our full respects
to all those that suffered as a result of the Hillsborough disaster 23
years ago.”
