QPR Official Site - John Gregory THANK YOU ALL
John Gregory has today (Tuesday) issued the following statement to QPR supporters.
"After what has been a very traumatic time for everyone, I wanted to take this opportunity to thanks our fans and everyone connected to Queens Park Rangers Football Club for the fantastic tributes to Ray Jones.
"We always knew Saturday was going to be a very difficult day for everyone connected to QPR.
"I want to say thank you for all the tributes - the flowers; the flags; the shirts, all the mementoes that have been left outside Loftus Road. It has been truly magnificent.
"To the people that were there and those who have sent letters of good wishes, we just want to thank you all.
"Saturday was a really fitting tribute to Ray and one that his family were very proud of - his Mum Lorraine, of course, along with his two sisters, his Nan and his Uncle and various other relatives. They were truly uplifted by the send-off you all gave Ray on Saturday.
"It was a tough week in many ways and certainly the performance wasn't one we wanted. We were rather hoping we'd given him a better send off than we did. A defeat wasn't particularly good, but we kind of felt that it would go one way or the other and unfortunately it went the other way.
"Rest assured, I'm sure the players will now have time to get over what has been a really tragic loss for us all and get focused on what lies ahead.
"Thank you all once more - it really was a truly great send off for Ray and I know the family really appreciate everything you - the supporters - have done.
"His memory will live on - we just need to make sure we give you lot something to cheer about over the next few weeks." QPR
QPR OFFICIAL SITE - SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE
Queens Park Rangers Football Club will be holding a Service of Remembrance to celebrate the life and times of Ray Jones on Thursday morning (September 6th).
To respect the wishes of the Jones family, details of the funeral service will be kept private and confidential.
A spokesperson for the family said: "Whilst the family would dearly love to accommodate everyone who wishes to pay their respects to Ray, it simply isn't possible.
"The family are however eternally grateful for the reception they received on Saturday, the many tributes and the loving support showed by all concerned since last weekend."
However, supporters wishing to pay their respects to the late teenager can do so by attending the service at St Stephen & St Thomas Church, 1 Coverdale Road (corner of Uxbridge Road), Shepherds Bush, W12 8JJ.
The service, which begins at 10.00am, will be attended by Club staff and players, but no members from the Jones family will be present.
Light refreshments and teas and coffees will be available at Loftus Road from 11.30am and anyone who attends the service is welcome to join us.
Supporters who wish to send flowers to the funeral service can do so by sending them care of T Cribb & Sons Funeral Directors, Thomas Cribb Mews, 10 Woolwich Manor Way, Beckton, E6 4PA, to arrive by 8.00am on Thursday morning.
*Loftus Road Stadium will be closed between 9.30am and 11.30am to allow staff to attend the memorial service. The Club Shop will remain open as usual. QPR
