Sunday Star Speculates re Ray Wilkins QPR Return

-
[UPDATE: The "story" picked up by Sky Sports - Sky Sports "Wilkins looking to return - Former QPR boss linked with return to Loftus Road Also same story as Sporting Life

Speculation/gossip (sounds highly unlikely) from the Sunday Star - As posted on various QPR messageboards

Sunday Star -WILKINS ON FOR QPR RETURN -exclusive by Ted Macauley.
Ray Wilkins could make a sensational return to QPR.New Loftus Rd owners - Formula One big-hitters Bernie Ecclestone and Italian Flavio Briatore - have the former Rangers player-boss on their hit-list.
Ex Chelsea,Manchester United and England skipper Wilkins was QPR boss for two years from 1994,and is eager to get back into the club game, since losing his job as No2 to Dennis Wise at Millwall.
Wilkins,50, is a SKY TV pundit- and coached the England Under-21s to one of their best seasons. But he was sacked when manager Peter Taylor gave way to Stuart Pearce earlier this year.He could now be in line for a 'dream team' return to the big time with pal Gianlucci Vialli. They worked together at Chelsea and Watford and have long planned another partnership if the right offer came along.
Wilkins said " I'd love to get back into the game.I feel I have so much to offer. With the right level of backing and financial support I know I could make a success of any club. First time round as QPR manager was not easy. There was no money. But my achievements with the England kids are proof positive of my ability to coach at a high level". Sunday Star

Comments:
Ray Wilkins was a disaster for QPR. This is the man who sold Sir Les and then wasted the £6m received on people like Ned Zelic and Mark Hateley [who he signed with a broken leg].
His career as a manager has been poor and always ending in a "quick" sacking.

As for Vialli his record is even worse.

The whole suggestion of these two coming is crazy.

If they have to change manager then go for Billy Davies of Derby who has done it at Preston & Derby in this league.

Wilkins is a good coach- just don't give him the cheque bookso he can't sign players like Ned Zelic who he described "as versatile as an egg". He forgot that eggs break.

Ray Wilkins is probably a nice person but has illusions of grandeur when he says that he can manage any club as long as the finance.I could do the same but would much rarther leave it to the person who can manage QPR,it is JOHN GREGORY,whats he done wrong.

Wilkins record speaks for its self! Lets stick with Gregory, he saved ud last season and has the respect of the players

This apology for a manager was the main reason behind the start of the clubs demise. He should'nt be let within a thousand miles of Loftus Road

Wilkins was a great player for QPR but as manager started their final premier season with only an unproven pairing of Dichio and Gallen as strikers. From the first day of the season it was clear that they would go down. Since then he has had little impact as a club manager. I think Gregory should stay.

Stay away Ray

NO NO not these two,I,m going to be sick

what a joke that clown single handidly almost ruined our club remember hately, zelic ,goodridge yates .... need i go on. this is the man who thought it would be a good idea to play himself in midfield instead at the ripe old age of 40 instead of the promising simon osborn so for god sake lets give gregory the chance that he deserves he is QPR through and through.

Bring back Terry Venables and let McClaren hang

NO!!!

Wilkins was the one and only reason we were relegated from the top flight. His decisions were poor and anyway, although he was quality for us as a player, he is Chelsea through and through.

John gregory's blue & white army!

At Waford he added £7,000,000.00 to the wage bill. The following season the club sold the ground and rented it back to raise money to pay for Ray's great buys.

Please go and find another club Ray.
