The Sun - April 5, 2007
JOHN GREGORY last night delivered a scathing attack on the QPR players he inherited when he took over last September.
The Rangers boss saw his side pull four points clear of the bottom three after Tuesday’s 1-0 home win over Preston.
Gregory took over from former QPR team-mate Gary Waddock after most of the summer budget had already been spent.
The ex-Aston Villa boss has since ditched 15 players — including £400,000 pair Zesh Rehman and Nick Ward — in his quest to secure Championship survival.
He said: "It’s not their fault. They always did their best but they just aren’t good enough for the Championship. It’s as simple as that.
"If I see any of the new signings like Adam Bolder or Danny Cullip making a mistake — they get criticised first.
"It was my judgment that brought them here, so I feel far more responsible for them than any of the others." The Sun
TEAMTALK - Stewart told to sharpen up
QPR manager John Gregory has ordered defender Damion Stewart to improve his concentration during the closing weeks of the season.
Gregory was full of praise for the Jamaican's performance during Tuesday's win over Preston, but is worried that the 26-year-old struggles in the early stages of matches.
Stewart was signed last summer by former Rangers boss Gary Waddock, but has been a regular since Gregory took over last September.
"Damion has to remember what time the game kicks off," Gregory said.
"He needs to start at that point, not take 10 minutes to warm up and adjust to the pace of the game." Teamtalk
[And Gregory Hoping for Holloway's Assistance
QPR Official Site -April 2nd
John Gregory has called on former Rangers boss Ian Holloway to do his old Club a favour in the run-in - starting on Tuesday night!
Five of Argyle's remaining seven Championship fixtures this season are against sides embroiled in the scrap for survival - prompting Gregory to issue a rallying cry to his close friend and former R's Manager ahead of their trip to Burnley tomorrow (Tuesday).
"Ian Holloway left QPR in acrimonious circumstances, but the fans still hold him in the highest regard,'' Gregory told www.qpr.co.uk.
"He will be held in even greater esteem if he was to help his former Club by taking maximum points off of our rivals.
"Having said that, Ollie's teams always give 100 per-cent for him. His ability to get the very best out of his players has always been one of his greatest strengths. We know that his players will be expected to give their all.
"Rest assured, I'll be keeping a very close eye on Plymouth's results!"
Argyle travel to Turf Moor on Tuesday night, before making the trip to Elland Road - home of Leeds United - this weekend.
Leicester City follow on Easter Monday for the Pilgrims, before Argyle play Luton Town (away) and Southend United (home)......href="http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1005505,00.html">QPR
