Kilburn Times/Ben Kosky - Rangers to pay Heaton bill
- GOALKEEPER Tom Heaton wants to sign a permanent deal at QPR in January - despite his lack of first-team opportunities this season.
- Heaton has made only two senior appearances for Rangers, both in the Carling Cup, and is returning to Manchester United when his three-month loan expires later this week.
- But the 23-year-old keeper, who is behind Edwin Van der Sar, Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak in the Old Trafford pecking order, plans to sound out United boss Sir Alex Ferguson about a move to Rangers in the new year.
- "In an ideal world, I would have stayed down at QPR until January, but there's no loophole in the agreement - it was a three-month loan and now we can't do anything until the new year," Heaton told the Times.
- "My contract at United's up in the summer and, from a personal point of view it's time to move on and start afresh, so I'm hoping to secure a permanent move in January.
- "If there's a chance of that being to QPR, I'd certainly be very, very interested. I've had a couple of conversations with the manager and he's been happy with what I've done since I've been here.
- "The manager's impressed me an awful lot as well and the club appear to be moving in the right direction. Every player wants to play in the Premier League and I'm no different."
- Heaton performed well between the posts when called upon, helping a sluggish Rs side scrape past Accrington Stanley in the second round of the Carling Cup.
- He then kept his side in the contest when Rangers made the short trip to Stamford Bridge, making eye-catching saves to foil Juliano Belletti and Joe Cole as Jim Magilton's side succumbed to Chelsea by a single goal.
- But Heaton was then overlooked in favour of Radek Cerny when Rangers returned to Championship action and he admitted: "Would I have liked to play more games? Of course I would.
- "By the same token, you have to look at Radek. I knew he was a great keeper before I came to QPR, we've got on very well and he's helped me with a lot of things in training.
- "Radek was in the team when I arrived and he's been absolutely top drawer since then. That's credit to him and I can't have any complaints. Kilburn Times

Magilton Hoping for Heaton Return - QPR OFficial Site - JIM: 'THE HEAT IS OFF - FOR NOW!'
- Jim Magilton has revealed he is 'hopeful' Tom Heaton will return to the Club in January following the completion of his loan spell at Loftus Road.
- The 23 year-old's loan deal from Manchester United officially concludes on Saturday, but the R's gaffer has been so impressed with the young shot-stopper, that he will be doing 'everything within his power' to get the keeper back to W12 in the New Year.
- "Tom has been outstanding for us from the day he walked into the Club," Magilton told www.qpr.co.uk.
- "He's a first class pro and sets the standards by which the others follow.
- "We're quite hopeful that we will be able to do something in January and I'll be doing everything within my power to push it through."
- Heaton only featured in the R's Carling Cup ties against Accrington Stanley and Chelsea, but he leaves with the praise of Magilton ringing in his ears.
- "He's left an unbelievable impression with both myself, the staff and the players and we'd love to have him back here," he said.
- "There have been occasions where we've been very close to giving him a start. He was outstanding against Chelsea - undoubtedly our best player on the park that night.
- "Being a number two is tough, but he's never moaned or groaned and has applied himself superbly.
- "If we can get him back in January, we'll have two of the best keepers in the division on our books and we'll have no hesitation in throwing him in." QPR

Skysports - Leigertwood offered new deal

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers have offered Mikele Leigertwood a new deal at Loftus Road.
- Leigertwood's current deal expires next summer and the club are keen to keep hold of the industrious midfielder.
- The 26-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Rangers squad since his arrival in the summer of 2007 and he has impressed in Jim Magilton's side this term.
- A number of Premier League and Championship sides are thought to be monitoring Leigertwood's situation at QPR and are ready to move for him in the summer.
- However, QPR are hoping to ward off the interest by securing the former Crystal Palace and Sheffield United ace to a new long-term deal SkySports
