Dave Clement's Son Appointed Chelsea's Youth Coach

-
All QPR fans over a certain age have very, very fond memories of QPR defender for over a decade, Dave Clement

Chelsea - NEW YOUTH COACH APPOINTED
Chelsea's new youth team coach is Paul Clement who has been promoted from within the Academy structure.
Clement was last season the coach of the Under 16 schoolboys side, his second spell at Chelsea having spent the previous six years with Fulham.
He first began working in Chelsea youth development on a part-time basis in 1994 and did so for six years, during which time he coached the Under 15s.
An opportunity of a full-time position at Fulham was then taken where Clement worked as youth team coach and also combined the job of Republic of Ireland Under 21s assistant coach before returning to Chelsea last summer.
'It has been a long apprenticeship but I always had ambitions of working in football at the top level. I am very excited to be in my new role,' Clement says.
He welcomes the responsibility that comes with Chelsea's declared policy of youth development as an important part of long-term strategy.
'From the point of view of someone working in this area, if people aren't saying the right things about wanting to bring young players through, it would be very hard for us.
'I feel very supported right through from the owner to the manager. There is a strong push for young players to come through and there is a lot of responsibility on my shoulders but I am very happy to be part of that.'
A significant percentage of the new players joining the youth team squad as full-time scholars next season will have been coached by Clement at Under 16 level.
'I was also assisting with the youth team last season so many of the players who will continue to be in the youth team, I got to know quite well as well,' he points out.
'So it is not as if I am coming in new and will need a breaking-in period. That puts me in a good position.'
Paul is the brother of former Chelsea youth product and current West Brom defender Neil Clement. He was also one of the coaches who took part in Chelsea's highly successful visit to Ghana last week in conjunction with global charity partner Right To Play. Chelsea
