Hull Mail - HULL CITY: Striker move still undecided
Tuesday, January 19, 2010
- HULL City striker Daniel Cousin has today been linked with a move to Fulham as his agent continues to try to engineer a move away from the KC.
- City chairman Adam Pearson has given agent Willie McKay permission to find a new club for the striker whilst the transfer window is open.
- Having first tried to sign the 32-year-old from Rangers back in January 2008, Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson is a known admirer of the Gabon international.
- But his future will not become clear until he returns from the African Cup of Nations later this month.
- Gabon are on the verge of progressing to the last eight after a goalless draw with Tunisia put them within touching distance of qualification.
That means Cousin's stay in Angola will be extended, holding up his move away from the Tigers.
- QPR have already struck a provisional deal to take him on-loan until the end of the season, but that could be in jeopardy after the exit of manager Paul Hart, who instigated the move.
- McKay is still touting Cousin's services to clubs in England and France and a decision on his future is expected on his return to the UK.
- Fulham's interest in Cousin comes on the back of injuries to Bobby Zamora and Clint Dempsey which has severely depleted their attacking options.
Zamora is out with a broken collarbone and his comeback won't be rushed, whilst a deal to sign Roma forward Stefano Okaka, 20, on-loan for the rest of the season has also broken down.
- Fulham face a tricky tie against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 32 of the Europa League and need someone who can play in Europe.
Cousin fits the bill perfectly and has previous experience of doing so from his time at the Gers and with Lens. Hull Daily Mail
