QPR Official Site - A NEW KIT FOR A NEW ERA...
Posted on: Fri 30 Apr 2010
- Queens Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to reveal the identity of our new home kit for the 2010/11 campaign - available for pre-order now.
- The strip, which will be worn by the R's First Team in our final fixture of the season against Newcastle United on Sunday lunchtime, features the iconic Blue and White Hoops, as well as a new thin red piping, harping back to the popular Guinness jersey from the early 1980's.
- R's ace Akos Buzsaky, who modeled the kit at our official launch earlier this week, is a huge advocate of the new strip, commenting: "It's very nice - I really like the way it looks. Hopefully the fans will like it as much as we do.
- "The most important thing is that it is a successful kit, and that is down to us."
- Fellow midfielder Lee Cook added: "I always like it when the new kit comes out, and this one is really smart.
- "They've brought the red bit back, and the badge is now on the side which looks really good. The whole kit is a lot better."
- The new home jersey retains the traditional hoops in reflex blue and white, but this year, the Lotto Sport Italia logo is positioned on the left side of the jersey, with the QPR Club Crest situated on the right. The new Gulf Air logo is once again placed within the blue hoops, matching the signage around Loftus Road.
- *To pre-order your new QPR home shirt - priced £39.99 (adults) - log on to www.shop.qpr.co.uk or call QPR Direct on 0870 240 4547 now! There are less than 1,000 shirts available at this stage - on a first come, first served basis. Order today and you'll receive your new shirt by the start of June." QPR

QPR Official Site - THE NEW 2010/11 HOME SHIRT - EXPLAINED
- Created by Lotto's Research and Development Centre in close co-operation with Queens Park Rangers Football Club, the new team uniforms are the right fusion of designs characterising the Club in the past and present, integrating the Club crest.
- The First Team kit features emphasis on the collar which is characterised by a triangle under the neck-line indicating the centre of the jersey. The colours chosen for this home jersey are the traditional QPR colours: white and reflex blue. The sleeves are characterised by contrast inserts which creates an ideal location for the Lotto logo.
- The shirt has a fitted shape fit and is made of Poly Double Mesh 10, an extremely lightweight, breathable elasticated fabric that ensures maximum comfort and the least amount of fatigue during play.
- The shorts are in the colour variant white and reflex blue. As well as the Lotto logos on the side, the team crest stands out in a reduced and more proportioned size than on the shirt." QPR

- England U19s Head Coach Noel Blake has named an 18-man squad for the Elite Qualifying Round games in Ukraine next month, as the Young Lions look to reach the European Championship Finals for the third successive year.
- The Young Lions know that they must top a four team group including current champions Ukraine, Republic Of Ireland and Bosnia-Herzegovina in May if they are to achieve their target and secure a place in the last eight, so Blake has called upon an experienced squad, all of which have featured for the U19s over the course of this season.
- There are five players in the squad who were involved at last summer's Finals, also held in Ukraine, including the competition's Golden Boot winner Nathan Delfouneso.
- Declan Rudd, Matthew James, Andros Townsend and Matthew Briggs were also part of the group which reached the Final in Donetsk, only to miss out on the title against Ukraine.
- England open up the Elite Round when they take on Ireland at the Obolon Arena in Kiev on Wednesday 26 May, before facing Bosnia at the same venue two days later.
- They will then face the hosts at the Valeriy Lobanovskiyy Stadium in Kiev on 31 May, with the overall winners of the group going on to feature in the Finals in France in July." Football Association

New QPR Kit DOES Have Hoops (Sort Of)...QPR Chairman Saksena Speaks...Players' Futures

Standard/James Olley - The man confident that a land of hoop and glory awaits QPR
- The Championship season may be drawing to a close but at Loftus Road there is a sense of a new dawn.
- Queens Park Rangers have represented something of a calamity to those who assumed the arrival of Flavio Briatore and the super-rich Mittal family in late 2007 would automatically awaken a sleeping giant.
- Instead, confusion reigned as six permanent managers failed to live up to expectations of promotion amid rumours of Briatore's increasingly irrational behaviour, which extended to angry late-night telephone calls and interference in team selection.
- The club insist Briatore stepped down as chairman in February to "pursue other business interests" and that he remains a board member and a "committed shareholder", although they remain unwilling to divulge the stake he now commands.
- It is said Briatore's passion for the club had extended to him walking through Loftus Road's corridors in slippers embroidered with the QPR badge. But for Italian's flamboyance, read new chairman Ishan Saksena's prudence and sensibility.
- Lakshmi Mittal's interests have been hitherto represented chiefly by the appointment of son-in-law Amit Bhatia as vice-chairman to Briatore.
- But any awkward juxtaposition of Briatore's eccentricity and Bhatia's sagaciousness that existed is dispelled by Saksena's introduction.
- The 31-year-old was born in New Delhi and is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where he met Bhatia before embarking on a 10-year career working in the finance sector, chiefly in private equity, mergers and acquisitions.
- Saksena and Bhatia remained in contact throughout that time and, after moving to England in 2007, he was invited to join the board as an adviser late last year but quickly ascended to chief executive and then chairman in February.
- Despite the shift in power, Saksena is determined not to paint Briatore as the villain of the piece but admits an important alteration has taken place at boardroom level. "The way decisions are made at this club has changed and that is the important thing," Saksena said.
- "Flavio made whatever decisions he made in the best interests of QPR. In retrospect, perhaps certain decisions could have been made differently.
- "We have done a lot in a short space of time. We have stabilised the organisation from the freefall I think it was experiencing a few months ago."
- Already, more than 2,000 season tickets have been sold compared to around 550 at the corresponding stage last season as fans have responded to attempts by the club to reconnect with their core supporters.
- Saksena organised a forum with 12 representatives of various fans' groups and attended by Amit Bhatia to discuss the direction they must now take.
- But the most notable development to date was the appointment of Neil Warnock as manager at the beginning of March and Saksena personally negotiated the £500,000 compensation package to prise him away from Crystal Palace, who it is understood originally wanted three times as much.
- Saksena is keen to emphasise the burgeoning friendship he enjoys with Warnock and promote the extension of such stability to the dugout.
- "We hit it off from the day we met," he explained. "I have met his family and we are friends.
- "We have very different styles but we work well together. I look forward to getting to know him better, not just over the next three years while he is manager, but much further beyond."
- As if to underline the business acumen ready to guide QPR forward, the Sunday Times Rich List claims steel magnate Mittal has doubled his personal wealth from £10.8billion to £22.4bn despite a worldwide recession and it would be easy for the club's supporters to get lost in a swathe of dreamy transfer aspirations.
- But as a former director in the investment banking division at Lehman Brothers in both New York and London, Saksena is well placed to preach prudence.
- Any extravagance extends only to the directors' box, plush with crocodile skin walls, luxurious sofas and a lavish dining table. "The board and I will fully support Neil in what he wants to do with the team and how he chooses to shape the squad," he added.
- "I can't give you numbers of what money is available. We want to be active in the transfer market but it is going to be dictated by what Neil wants. You have to balance expectations with financial prudence.

- "Because of my experience with Lehman, I can relate to financial sensibilities and see the human emotion when something like this happens. I am proud to say we have no external debt in the company and we intend to keep it like that."
- Briatore's four-year plan for promotion has been replaced by a more measured prediction in which Saksena is reluctant to introduce any kind of time frame. "We want to reach the Premier League and Neil would not have come on board if we weren't all sure of that vision," he said.
- "There is no point saying we have a two or five-year plan to make it. It won't be a failure if we are not promoted next season. If we don't go up, I will wish we had but that doesn't mean it is failure as long as we are making steady progress."
- Saksena effuses a pragmatism that should inspire supporters to believe the club are in good hands, with Briatore's contacts still a useful source to call on.
- In fact, the supermodels that adorned W12 upon the Italian's arrival may not be a thing of past, even if style and ostentation are not paramount.
- "I haven't even thought about viewing the business like that," Saksena said.
- "The main goal for Queens Park Rangers is to do well on the pitch. If getting supermodels in the stands improves the morale of the crowd and encourages the team to score more goals, we should get them back. If it doesn't, we won't." Standard

Paul Warburton/Fulham Chronicle - QPR stars set for showdown talks
- THE entire QPR squad face showdown talks with boss Neil Warnock on Wednesday to discover whether they are wanted or not next season.
- The Rs supremo will make it plain to all the permanent players one-by-one – including loanees Heidar Helguson, Patrick Agyemang and Fitz Hall about his plans for next season.
- Ironically, the latter can’t play in Sunday’s finale against Newcastle even if he was allowed, because the central defender has a hamstring problem.
- But the smart money is on Hall, and several others clearing their lockers at the Harlington training ground so a new wave of Warnock-style players can take their place. Fulham Chronicle

Paul Warburton/Fulham Chronicle - Vine and Agyemang handed QPR lifelines
- NEIL Warnock has handed Rowan Vine and Patrick Agyemang a QPR lifeline.
- Both players have been hotly tipped for the chop ahead of showdown talks with the Rangers boss on Wednesday.
- Vine has scored just once all season, while Agyemang has been shipped out on loan to Bristol City, but Warnock has hinted it might not be the end of the road for the duo.
- He said: “Pat was always a handful when I played against him in the past, and I’ve always liked Rowan from way back.” Fulham Chronicle

Paul Waburton - Fulham Chronicle - Four QPR players set for axe
- NEIL Warnock is set to axe four QPR players as part of his summer clear out.
- Italian flops Alessandro Pellicori, already back in his own country on loan, and Matteo Alberti will be allowed to go, along with midfielder Nigel Quashie in the first wave of departures when the Rangers boss meets his players for talks on Wednesday.
- Heidar Helguson has already made it plain he wants to turn his loan move into a permanent one with Watford. Fulham Chronicle

Newcastle Chronicle/Lee Ryder - Peter Ramage: Routledge deserves praise
- PETER RAMAGE hopes the boo boys stay at home as Wayne Routledge makes a return to Loftus Road on Sunday.
- The jet-heeled winger left Queens Park Rangers in January with the club in a slump amid a series of boardroom changes.
- However, he has been a revelation on Tyneside since joining from the Rs and quickly established himself as a favourite at United.
- Ramage told the Chronicle: “I expected him to do well up there.
- “He’s different to what they already had, and that’s no disrespect to anyone.
- “He has pace in abundance, and he has had half a dozen or so assists already.
- “We were bitterly disappointed to lose him, and angry, as well. He was our star player.
- “He’s a good lad, as well and it’ll be good to see him at Loftus Road.
- “I hope he gets a good reception for what he did here.

- “It’ll be strange to see him on the other side.”
- Ramage, though, is glad it won’t be a double whammy with Fitz Hall out injured in what would have been the last appearance of his loan spell from QPR.
- He said: “I think the last time I came across that was when Lomana LuaLua scored against Newcastle for Portsmouth.
- “Fitz is a top pro, and is another really good lad.
- “He was good to me when I moved down.
- “He helped me settle down.
- “It would have been a bit strange if he’d played against us, and then came back on July 1 for pre-season!
- “He’s done a good job for Newcastle, and I’m not particularly disappointed he’s not playing, because he’s a good player.
- Ramage will instead have to content himself with marking Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan – and get to grips with close pal Shola Ameobi – who are vying for the top scorer slot.
- He says: “They’re two quality players. Andy’s done remarkably well this season, and I’m pleased for him. He’s head and shoulders above anything else in the Championship.
“He’s scored 19 goals this season, and he’d have bitten your hand off if you’d offered him that at the start. It’s not surprising a number of clubs are looking at him, and he’s being mentioned as a future England player as well.
“It’s testament to the hard work he’s put in – he’s a good lad who wants to do well.
“Shola’s a good lad, and it’s good to see him scoring goals.
“He’s a handful for anybody when he’s on form.
- “I hope he can keep fit for a consistent period of time, because then you’ll be able to see the best of him.”
- Yet despite the QPR-Toon connections, Ramage knows the game holds particular significance for himself and his family.
He said: “It’s been a long time coming – and a lot has happened in between.
“It was the first fixture I looked for, and probably the first that the QPR fans looked for.
“It’ll be a big day, and it’s the fixture I’ve been looking forward to more than any other.” Chronicle

Evening Standard/Ian Gibb - Neil Warnock raids Crystal Palace for Clint HillFormer Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock will sign his first Eagle when Clint Hill joins Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer next week.

The Liverpudlian, who can operate at left-back or centre-half, had been expected to return north.

Hill will be the cornerstone of QPR's set‑pieces, as he was for five years at Stoke. The 31‑year-old can throw long, send over teasing free-kicks or get on the end of them with towering, back-post headers.

However, Palace's 19-goal midfielder Darren Ambrose isn't certain to follow.

The 28-year-old said: “I have a year left of my contract and have no reason to move. I love Palace.” Standard

Dave McIntyre/Kilburn Times - Palace defender set for QPR switch
- QPR are close to agreeing the signing of Crystal Palace defender Clint Hill on a Bosman free transfer.
- The 31-year-old Liverpudlian had been expected to return north when his Palace contract ends this summer, and a number of clubs have shown an interest, but Rangers now look likely to secure his signature.
- Hill, who is primarily a central defender but can also play at left-back, started his career with Tranmere and had a spell at Oldham before signing for Stoke in 2003.
- He spent five years with the Potters before joining Palace, where he played under Neil Warnock.
- A number of Hill's Selhurst Park team-mates have been tipped to join Warnock at Loftus Road. Midfielder Neil Danns and goalkeeper Julian Speroni are among his top summer targets.
- But Warnock has so far shown no firm interest in signing highly-rated right-back Nathaniel Clyne, who has also been linked with a move to west London. Kilburn Times

Lee Camp Talking: - Nottingham Evening Post
Forest keeper Camp has eyes on more silverware
- HAVING been handed the player of the season award by his manager on the pitch prior to kick-off on Saturday, goalkeeper Lee Camp admits to considering the prospect of lifting a rather more significant piece of silverware in a few weeks.
- A 19th clean sheet of the Championship season against Plymouth, provided further evidence as to why Camp was chosen for the accolade.
But, with club captain Paul McKenna battling a knee injury, Camp is dreaming of a climb up the famous Wembley steps to collect an even bigger prize in the play-off final.
"It would mean everything to me to lift another trophy in a few weeks," said Camp.
"I would hand everything over in exchange for that – all the clean sheets, this award, everything, because that is the ultimate goal.
"Hopefully if we do get that far, Paul will be back to lift the trophy himself.
"He is working very hard, I know that. But he is probably a long way off still. I have an opinion on a lot of things – but I am not going to try to be an expert on sports and medical science and injuries now.
"If he is back, fantastic, because he is a great leader and a great presence in the side.
"But, if he is not, we will go about our task in the same way and somebody will have to step up and be a hero.
"And, hopefully, at the end of the day, I'll have a chance to lift that trophy."
In a side that has been successful and, particularly at home, free-scoring this season, it is perhaps unusual for the goalkeeper to be selected for the player of the season award.
And, modestly, Camp admits he must have had some serious rivals for the title.
"It is really special for me. I am not sure there are many goalkeepers who would win player of the year in such a successful side," he said.
"There have been a lot of good performances and lots of consistent performances from other players....."To get it from among those players is a great achievement and something I am very proud of."
- For Camp, the award could be considered particularly significant.
- This time last season he was consigned to training with the youth team at Queen's Park Rangers and his future was more than uncertain.
Twelve months later he has the chance of Premiership football within touching distance – while some fans have been calling for his performances to be recognised with an England call-up.
- "You always believe in your ability. But it was a tough couple of months. For some reason, QPR seemed to hold it against me that another club had shown an interest in me, after I had been on loan at Forest," he said.
- "It was tough being made to train with the youth team and things like that. It was poor really.

- "But I went about my business and, in the long term, I always hoped that Forest would be my long-term future.
"I came in and hit the ground running, because I was raring to go. The fans took to me very quickly, which I appreciate. I honestly could not ask for a lot more.
"Then, this season, people even started jumping on the bandwagon and calling for me to be included in the England reckoning.
"It is remarkable when you consider that, 12 months ago, I was in relative obscurity really, as people talked about me coming here but I was frozen out at QPR.
"It is always nice to have your name mentioned about representing your country, but I have not changed my opinion on it.
"I still feel that there will be three Premiership goalkeepers there in the summer."
It is at this point, Camp smiles as he is reminded he could himself be a Premiership keeper by the summer.
"Sorry, yes, I mean proven Premiership goalkeepers. Players who have performed at the highest level," he says.
"I think that has to be the standard. To take a rookie keeper would be a massive risk, when you are looking to win a tournament. Why would they take that risk?"
In the meantime, before the World Cup gets underway, Camp could well be involved in the most valuable fixture in world club football towards the end of May.
And he is delighted at the prospect.
"I experienced the play-off final from the sidelines at Derby and it was an amazing thing. If you can't win the league then the best way to do it is through the play-offs," he said.
"Although, if you had asked me, I would have accepted second place and the opportunity to sneak up to the Premiership through the back door.
"But if there is a way to do it, it is at Wembley. It will be a great few weeks for the club.
"As long as the players can enjoy it and not get too wrapped up in the pressure of it all, it will hopefully be a hell of a chance for us."
And, if McKenna does not win his fight for fitness, then, after the transformation in fortunes Camp has produced, then nobody would deserve to lift that all-important trophy at Wembley more than him.
Nottingham Evening Post

Gorkss & Warnock on QPR Next Season
Mirror - Barnsley 0-1 QPR:
- Kaspars Gorkss believes Neil Warnock can give QPR the confidence they need to claim promotion next season.
- Mikele Leigertwood struck a stunning first-half goal to give QPR the three points against Barnsley and give them their third win in four games to continue a strong finish to a poor season.
- At the start of the season QPR were one of the favourites to make the play-offs, but they failed to deliver with a number of problems on and off the field.
- Warnock is the third manager to be in charge at Loftus Road this season and it hasn’t been easy on the players but Gorkss hopes the former Crystal Palace boss will help them achieve promotion.
- He said: "I think we are now looking at the future, it has been a hard season, we have to look to the future and hopefully get some good stability and good results for next season.
- "Promotion will obviously be our goal but I don’t think we are pressured. The only pressure we are under is from ourselves and our disappointment when we don’t perform.
- "Since Warnock arrived we have started to keep clean sheets, get results and show a lot more character.
- "He is very charismatic and he has brought a lot of confidence back into the players and you can see that on the pitch."
- However, Warnock will be looking to make some changes to his squad as he looks to bolster his attacking options in a bid to reach the Premier League.
- He said: "I can’t wait for the summer to bring some of my players in as we have too many loan players here at the moment.
-"We are just a bit missing up front and I want to spend most of my summer trying to find a striker and forward.
- The QPR boss also believes next season will be a much closer season at the top without the two big clubs of Newcastle and West Brom who have comfortable gained promotion.
- "I think it is going to be a very exciting season. It’s not very often that you’re on an equal playing field and next year it will decide who is the best manager too."
- In a game of few chances and both teams having nothing to play for, Leigertwood’s 27th minute strike adding something special to the occasion.
- Hogan Ephraim slid the ball inside to the defender who smashed the ball off the underside of the bar and into the goal to make the trip worthwhile for the travelling support.
- "I think after having a frustrating season like we have had then you want to finish on a high and win as many games as possible," explained Gorkss.
- "I think it showed the character in the team that we have to have the ability to get motivated for a game like this..." .’ Mirror

Six Years ago, Gianni Paladini Buys Into QPR
- At the time, Jones and Blackburn (and Davies) were running the club. Bill Power had just recently also bought into the club. Within a couple of months of Paladini's purchase of shares, Power and Paladini had taken over from Blackburn,Jones and Davies.

BBC - April 28, 2004 - Paladini buys stake in QPR
QPR have finally found an investor
Italian businessman and agent Gianni Paladini has bought a 22% stake in Queens Park Rangers.
Paladini, who has represented Fabrizio Ravanelli and Benito Carbone, has invested around £650,000 and more cash may follow in the future.

QPR have been seeking investors since coming out of administration in 2002.

The board are speaking to other groups interested in buying a major stake, including American Tim Krause and a consortium fronted by Brian Rowe.
Krause is the president of Milwaukee Wave, the American club QPR entered into a partnership agreement with last year.
Lifelong R's fan Rowe was commercial director at Loftus Road under former owners Jim Gregory and Richard Thompson. BBC

Standard/Matt Hughes - April 28, 2004
Rangers are lifted as Italian pumps millions into club.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS have received a huge boost ahead of Saturday's promotion clash with Swindonin the form of a multi-millionpound investment from Italian businessman and agent Gianni Paladini, writes Matt Hughes.
Paladini's Leeds-based property company, Moorband Limited, have bought a 22 per cent share in QPR Holdings and could increase their stake further if the club win promotion-to the First Division. Paladini has more than 30 years' experience as a football agent and will play a key role in restructuring the QPR squad this summer."

QPR 1st - 28th April 2004
QPR1st gives a cautious welcome to the investment made by Moorbound Ltd, a company of former-football agent Gianni Paladini. We are pleased to see that the Club Board has at last succeeded in attracting inward investment to QPR, but there are a number of questions that we would like to see addressed, primarily to do with the deal itself and with the business credentials of Mr Paladini and his team.

In particular, we are keen to know roughly how much has been invested to secure 22% of QPR shares and what further investment plans Mr Paladini's company has. These questions alone have become pressing, since Mr Paladini's emergence as a bidder has generated substantial rumour, which QPR1st does not believe is good for either the Club or its support.

Also, should Mr Paladini's company exercise its option, as a part of this agreement, to extend the 22% to 51%, it would make this deal the beginning of an effective takeover rather than an 'investment', although QPR confirms that the Board is at the advanced stages of negotiations with other interested parties.

Given the potential that Mr Paladini could shortly have control of QPR, we call on the Board to explain what checks of Mr Paladini's business credentials and background have been done (we understand from QPR chief executive David Davies that every test so far put in front of Mr Paladini has been met on time). Meanwhile, we are seeking talks with Mr Paladini, to establish exactly what his company's involvement will mean for QPR.

QPR1st -15th April 2004 - Three investors circle QPR
QPR1st has learnt that a third potential investor in QPR has emerged. In some respects this could be positive news if it means that people are beginning to see Rangers as a viable business proposition. However, there is still plenty of room to be cautious, since two have previously explored investing in QPR and have not yet gone through with it while the third has plenty of history elsewhere in the football world.

The latest interested party to emerge is Gianni Paladini. This was reported in the Daily Express this morning but the story has subsequently been confirmed to QPR 1st by QPR chief executive David Davies. Davies stated that Paladini is looking to invest, rather than take a controlling stake.

Gianni Paladini came very close to a majority buyout of Port Vale in December 2003, through a corporate vehicle named Vantis. However, at the very last minute, another party was given priority by the Port Vale board. Some sources say that this was related to Paladinis' stated desire to be the new Port Vale Chairman, others that he simply wasn't a credible bidder with sufficient funds. In an interview with BBC Stoke he claimed he had shown the Port Vale board proof of funds before they pulled-out of the deal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/sport/portvale/2003/12/vale_takeover3.shtml

Whatever the truth, there does appear to have been a significant falling-out between Paladini and Bill Bratt the Port Vale Chairman.

QPR 1st continues to explore Paladinis' provenance. It is understood that Vantis had recently taken an interest in 'investing in' or 'acquiring' a couple of clubs ... Port Vale and Notts County.

Opinion amongst Vale supporter groups appears to back the Port Vale boards' position in rejecting Paladinis' advances. Port Vale Supporters' Trust (VAST) and Supporters Direct uncovered a series of County Court Judgments against him. Davies explained to us that these are public knowledge and arose from disputes between Paladini and another football agent. That does not mean that they should be ignored, however.

Supporters groups also discovered that, despite his early denials, Paladini was a director of several companies, including a Leeds-based property development company.

Davies confirmed that the critical difference between the Vantis interest in Port Vale and the current Paladini interest in QPR is that at Vale Vantis was attempting a complete takeover attempt, whilst Paladini is seeking to invest in QPR as an individual and not to take a majority stake. This, claims Davies, should ease supporters' worries about the ground being property-developed, as the rest of the QPR board would have to agree to such a thing. At the time of the Paladini takeover attempt at Vale, it was claimed by some that he was only interested in Vale for property development.

Meanwhile Milwaukee Wave, whose owner Tim Krause has long been looking at investing in QPR, remains interested and looks to be moving to reflect that through investment.

Last, but not least, the Brian Rowe-led consortium, which also includes the Anelka brothers, is still looking to invest.

Davies confirmed that there was a possibility of a combination of two of the three parties/ groups working together and being able to invest independently. He also confirmed that an announcement about this could come earlier or later than this Monday, as stated in the Express.

Meanwhile, the board must pick none, one or two from three. QPR1st calls on the board of QPR to take great care making their decision. Whilst recognising that failure to secure inward investment will almost certainly leave the club dangerously exposed as the season draws to a close, we recommend that prospective bidders be examined as closely as ever. At a time when the club is about to play a crucial promotion game, we have a critical weekend ahead of us. QPR1st

Dave's Queens Park Rangers Site - "Moorbound Ltd Buy 20% of QPR" -Moorbound Ltd Buy 22% of QPR Holdings
QPR have announced that Moorbound Ltd have bought 22% of the PLC's issued shares giving the club a much needed cash injection of around £650,000.

The deal sees Azeem Malik and Gianni Paladini join the board at QPR. Gianni Paladini is a former agent who represented many of the foreign stars who joined Middlesborough in the 1990's. Ravenelli, Juninio and Emerson were all on Paldini's books but he is now no longer a football agent after investing his money into QPR.

Chief Executive David Davies was delighted with the investment and told www.qpr.co.uk " "Moorbound were hoping to retain some confidentiality until the end of the season, but following speculation in the press, the Board have decided to confirm the investment.

"They have taken a substantial stake in the business and with Gianni's experience in football, it should be a great aid to us.

"They bring skills to the table and Nick, Ian and I are looking forward to working with them."

Gianni Paladini has the option to buy up to 51% of the shares if no new investment is forthcoming which would make his move a take-over and a little more concerning to QPR fans. Paldini attempted to take over Port vale earlier this season but fans grew nervous of the agents plans and were very pleased when his bid failed.

The QPR supporters Trust QPR 1st have given Paldini a cautious welcome to the club. A statement on the QPR 1st website said: "QPR1st gives a cautious welcome to the investment made by Moorbound Ltd, a company of former-football agent Gianni Paladini. We are pleased to see that the Club Board has at last succeeded in attracting inward investment to QPR, but there are a number of questions that we would like to see addressed, primarily to do with the deal itself and with the business credentials of Mr Paladini and his team.

Meanwhile, we are seeking talks with Mr Paladini, to establish exactly what his company's involvement will mean for QPR."

Despite one or two doubts about the new investor it is good to see the club attracting some money at last and hopefully this will turn out to be an excellent move for the club and hewlp take us forward..." Dave Barton's Queens Park Rangers Site

BOARDROOM BLUES - PALADINI'S REP JOINS THE BOARD
Tuesday 27 April 2004
QPR Holdings today confirmed that 22% of the issued plc shares have been sold to Moorbound Ltd of Leeds, and that Mohammed Azeem Malik has joined the board of QPR Holdings plc.

At the plc's last AGM shareholders voted to allow the board to issue further shares. To acquire 22% of the plc, Moorbound must presumably have bought a combination of newly issued shares and QPR Nominees shares. The plc has not announced how many new shares it has issued.

Gianni Paladini's representative Azeem Malik is recorded on the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants' website as being employed by Rehman Michael & Co of 277 Roundhay Road, Leeds.

Moorbound Ltd was incorporated as a private limited company in June 2003 and its registered address is also Rehman Michael & Co, 277 Roundhay Road.

Director Bill Power, posting on the www.qprnet.com messageboard today in response to concerns about the future of the Loftus Road ground, said: "I don't think I am breaking any confidentiality agreement by confirming that anyone who has asked to buy a majority stake within QPR have a stipulation in the agreement stating that they must guarantee our ground stays as is or improve it." QPR Official Site WARNOCK ON BARNSLEY

Neil Warnock hailed skipper Mikele Leigertwood, after his wonder-goal ensured Rangers claimed all three points against Barnsley.

The R's midfielder let fly with a stunning left footed effort that flew in off the underside of the bar, as the R's sealed back-to-back away victories.

Warnock told www.qpr.co.uk: "It was a strike fit to win any game of football.

"Mikele's quite capable of that and he produces a strike like that every now and then.

"We were right behind it in the technical area and it was always going in from the moment he took aim."

Warnock added: "It was a typical end of season affair, but I was pleased with how we played.

"It was very scrappy at times, but we stuck at it and the attitude of the players was very good.

"The goal came at a time when we were dominating, so it was perfect for us.

"I thought we were a bit sloppy in the first half defensively, but we tightened up and got the clean sheet we were craving." QPR

Sporting Life - Neil Warnock - fitting winner from Leigertwood.
WARNOCK LAUDS LEIGERTWOOD STRIKE

QPR manager Neil Warnock could not hide his surprise after Mikele Leigertwood scored a superb winner to sink Barnsley at Oakwell.

The midfielder volleyed in his fifth goal of the season from 22 yards with his weaker left foot, giving home keeper Luke Steele no chance.

And Warnock said: "It was a fitting goal to win a game.

"He scores when you're not expecting them and produces something out of nothing. And to hit it with his left foot - that's usually just for standing on."

Keeper Radek Cerny made excellent saves from Jon Macken and Hugo Colace either side of that strike to make sure of the points, despite a second-half goal being disallowed for a handball by Akos Buszaky.

Warnock added: "The keeper played well. He's trained hard and I just told him he would be playing for the rest of the season."

With safety assured before the game, Warnock is already looking to next season and said: "I can't wait for the season to end and then I can bring in my own players. I want to bring in a striker.

"Next season is going to be exciting and I am looking forward to it.

"It's hard to motivate players when there's nothing at stake. In the first half we could have given away couple of goals but we played better in the second."

Barnsley boss Mark Robins said: "We got a reaction and created more chances than them. They scored with a shot which was speculative.

"One thing that we didn't do was pass the ball enough. We wanted to get the ball to Jacob Butterfield and Hugo Colace and push them further forward because when you've got two little ones up front that's your only option, but we didn't.

"It's our final home game and we're disappointed to be finishing with a defeat. I believe the players have given everything. Looking at the season as a whole I am delighted at where we are, but I am disappointed that we haven't got anything from the game." Sporting Life

Barnsley Official Site - POST MATCH REACTION FROM OAKWELL
BARNSLEY manager Mark Robins gave his thoughts following today's action at Oakwell.

Mark said: "I think we got a reaction from the players today. We created more chances than QPR - they fluffed one and scored one - but we had enough to put that game to bed which is frustrating. To be fair we did not pass the ball enough and if we could have done that then we would have won the match. QPR were mostly quiet.

"We tweaked things a little today and it worked for some of the time and at others it didn't. We made the wrong choices and wrong decisions at times and that was really the story of our afternoon. It was frustrating and to end on a defeat here today is a little disappointing but I think the players have given me everything this season. It was just a step too far to carry on that promotion form throughout the season. It is disappointing not to get something from the game.

"We did not pass it well enough today and we cannot go from back to front when you have two little ones up front.

"We now have one game left and then we can get on with the job in hand.

"I think our fans have been fantastic all season but I am just sorry that we could not come out and thank them at the end. We had said before that we did not want them on the pitch and the police would not let us back out for health and safety reasons. It is a real shame because the players wanted to come back and show their appreciation. Our supporters have been tremendous this season and right behind both the players and me since I have been here. I am looking forward to that continuing.

"Daniel Bogdanovic has no chance really of being fit for West Brom but he is desperate for a five minute cameo; Anderson de Silva will not be fit enough to play again this season and Filipe (Teixeira) wants to play against his parent club next week but we will have to have that conversation and phone call later.

"The performance today was a little better". Barnsley

QPR Official Site - Barnsley 0 QPR 1

Mikele Leigertwood's unstoppable 20-yard drive sealed back-to-back wins on the road for QPR in their 1-0 win over Barnsley.

The stand-in Rangers skipper cut back on to his weaker left foot before firing home an effort that went in off the crossbar, following Hogan Ephraim's beautiful back heel.

The fixture - in truth - had the feel of an end of season fixture, with both sides assured of safety for another season in the Coca Cola Championship.

Though nonetheless, it was another fantastic win away from W12 for the Hoops, who moved within two points of the top half of the second tier league table.

Hoops boss Neil Warnock made two changes for the trip to Yorkshire.

Josh Parker was handed his first start in QPR colours, while Tamas Priskin also came into the starting XI.

Meanwhile, Adel Taarabt missed out owing to an ankle injury and Rowan Vine dropped to the substitutes' bench.

Radek Cerny was in goal for the R's.

Parker and Dusko Tosic occupied the full-back positions, while Peter Ramage partnered Kaspars Gorkss in the centre of defence.

Akos Buzsaky, skipper Leigertwood, Alejandro Faurlin and Ephraim were in midfield for QPR.

Priskin was up front with Antonio German.

Only moments had gone before Barnsley almost snatched an early lead at the start of the first half at Oakwell.

Iain Hume burst past both Gorkss and Ramage before unleashing a low drive that was superbly tipped onto the post and out for a corner by Cerny.

Soon after, the R's created their first chance to find the net.

After Buzsaky won a free-kick, he dusted himself down before firing an effort from 30-yards out straight at the keeper.

Chances were few and far between in the opening 20 minutes, though Rangers were enjoying more possession and time on the ball.

It was QPR's composure on the ball that helped carve open their first clear-cut opportunity of the afternoon.

Faurlin and Buzsaky combined before the latter flicked the ball on to Tosic. The Serbian left-back drove down the flank and into the penalty area before squaring for the unmarked German.

The young striker looked certain to find the target from just six-yards out, only to mistime his shot as the ball went under his foot before it was cleared up field.

Play then switched to the other end, and after Ramage misjudged a header, Hume received possession around 20 yards from goal before he smashed an effort just wide of Cerny's right-hand post.

Moments later, Hugo Colace's beautiful chip over the R's back four put Hume through on goal, before Ramage came across to block the Canadian international just before he was about to unleash an effort in at goal.

From the loose ball, Jon Macken looked certain to find the net from just 15-yards out, before Ramage was again on hand to block his shot on the line.

It was a missed chance that Barnsley would eventually pay for, as the R's raced into the lead on 27 minutes.

Ephraim's lovely back heel created the opening goal, after he sent the ball into Leigertwood's path following a Parker throw-in.

The rest was poetry in motion. Leigertwood cut in before sending home an unstoppable left-footed drive from 20-years out that hit the underside of the bar and bounced in to the net.

Soon after, Hammill burst down the left before sending over a cross for Macken, who rose highest before heading straight at Cerny.

The hosts should have replied just before half-time.

After an innocuous-looking through ball, Colace found himself in acres of space and through one-on-one with the keeper. The midfielder - in truth - rushed his effort, as he flashed a shot straight at Cerny from the edge of the box.

The second period started much like the opening 45 minutes, with not much in the way of chances.

It was Barnsley who were first on the attack. Hume picked up possession well into the R's half before squaring to Butterfield on the edge of the box, though his shot was well held by Cerny.

Minutes later, Ephraim breezed past Colace down the right, only to see his low cross caught by Steele for the Tykes.

The match had become a turgid affair, and with that, Warnock decided to introduce Cook in place of the impressive Ephraim for Rangers.

However, all that either of the two sides could create was a Buzsaky effort that went wide 40 yards from goal, as the R's held out for the victory.

BARNSLEY 0
QUEENS PARK RANGERS 1 (Leigertwood 28)

BARNSLEY had enough of the ball and the chances to bury Queens Park Rangers at Oakwell but the final home game of a fine season ended in disappointment.

There were more changes for the Reds as manager Mark Robins looked to give the home faithful one last performance and result with the end of a thrilling season looming large.

The final home match demands a performance was the message coming out of the Barnsley camp in the build up to the big game and Robins' selection showed three changes to the one beaten at Swansea City last time out. In came Jon Macken, Bobby Hassell and Jacob Butterfield while Andy Gray, Ryan Shotton and Martin Devaney dropped out of the starting eleven.

Carl Putzinson and Rob Kozluk returned from injury to take spots on the bench while rising star Alistair Taylor, who was named Academy Player of the Year earlier this week, was also included amongst the subs for the first time.

Barnsley were almost in front inside three minutes as Macken's neat flick put Iain Hume clear through on goal and the striker did everything right but was denied by Cerny's outstanding save. The Rangers keeper did magnificently well to turn his effort onto the post and away.

Rangers responded with an Akos Buszaky free kick on nine minutes that flew over the Barnsley wall but was easily held by Luke Steele.

The Reds had Luke Potter and Stephen Foster to thank on 19 minutes as Buszaky and Alejandro Faurlin put Antonio German away and in the clear but the Barnsley defenders managed to smother the ball away for a corner kick.

Steele was in brilliant form on 24 minutes as Buszaky skipped away down the left before pulling the ball back to give German a simple tap in five yards out but the Reds keeper pulled off a wonder save to deny the youngster. Barnsley broke quickly and Hume flashed a snap shot wide seconds later.

It was Barnsley's turn to go close on 26 minutes as Butterfield put Hume away behind QPR again but a combination of Peter Ramage and Cerny somehow managed to get in an important block. The ball broke kindly to Macken eight yards from goal but the striker's well-struck shot smacked into Ramage and bounced clear of the target.

Steele was helpless though to prevent Rangers snatching the lead on 27 minutes as Leigertwood took aim from 20 yards and smashed an unstoppable drive off the underside of the bar and into the back of the net. It was a fine, fine strike by the former Sheffield United midfielder.

Barnsley raised their game and the tempo on 34 minutes as first Macken brought a save from Cerny after rising highest to meet Adam Hammill's cross. Butterfield then split the Rangers defence wide, wide open to send Hugo Colace clear but the newly crowned Player of the Year could only drive straight at Cerny with the goal gaping.

The Reds were forced into a change five minutes before the break with Hammill limping out of the action following a blow to the head. Devaney came into the action to replace him in midfield.

A frustrated Nathan Doyle picked up the first booking on 42 minutes after hauling back Josh Parker. Parker then volleyed one high and very wide a moment later. Devaney's first involvement had Oakwell on its feet a minute later as he skipped past Leigertwood before bringing a smart low save from Cerny.

Barnsley opened up QPR again within two minutes of the restart as Butterfield did magnificently well to tee up Colace but the Argentine swung and missed his shot on the edge of the area.

The Reds had Rangers rocking again two minutes later as Butterfield again did well to carve open the visiting defence but neither Hume nor Devaney could get a shot away at Cerny's goal. In the end Luke Potter smashed it well wide from the edge of the box.

The red storm continued to build in front of the QPR goal. Butterfield tested Cerny on 55 minutes with a stinging left-footer that the visiting keeper did well to hold before Potter had them rocking with an outstanding cross from the left six-minutes later but Kaspars Gorkss was in the right place to clear.

Putzinson made his return from a knee injury on 64 minutes as he replaced Potter at left back to a rousing reception from the Oakwell faithful.

The Reds were left feeling aggrieved by an atrocious linesman's decision on 74 minutes as Putzinson's pass sent Devaney clear away behind a tiring Leigertwood but a ridiculous flag denied the winger a run on goal much to the annoyance of Reds boss Robins.

There was a glimpse of the future at Oakwell on 79 minutes as youngster Taylor made his Barnsley debut. The promising winger replaced Doyle.

Referee Russell Booth was finding himself more and more in the spot light and should have awarded the Reds a stonewall penalty on 81 minutes as Gorkss elbowed Hume out of the path of Putzinson's raking pass. It was a blatant foul but the referee gave nothing.

Steele might as well have had a deckchair in the spring sunshine at Oakwell although the Reds keeper might have had more to worry about as Buszaky lined up a free kick on 85 minutes but the Hungarian's effort trickled well, well wide.

Barnsley's frustrations were summed up in one second half second as Bobby Hassell hammered a wasteful shot high into the stand from 35 yards. The full back was on the receiving end of a volley of his own from manager Mark Robins.

BARNSLEY: Steele, Hassell, Foster, Moore, Potter (Putzinson 64), Hammill (Devaney 41), Colace, Doyle (Taylor 80), Butterfield, Macken, Hume.
Subs: Preece, Shotton, Adam, Kozluk.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS: Cerny, Buzsaky, Gorkss, German (Simpson 57), Leigertwood, Ramage, Tosic, Faurlin, Ephraim (Cook 80), Parker, Priskin (Brown 90).

Sporting Life Barnsley 0 QPR 1

Mikele Leigertwood's first-half goal was enough to ensure Barnsley's poor end-of-season form continued as they were beaten by QPR at Oakwell.

The 27-year-old lashed home an excellent effort effort against the run of play midway through the first half to settle a drab encounter devoid of many good opportunities.

QPR goalkeeper Radek Cerny had to be alert to deny Iain Hume and Hugo Colace in the first half but the hosts struggled to break down the stubborn visitors.

The defeat extended Barnsley's winless run to nine games, while QPR look to be ending their season on a high as they registered their third victory in four matches.

Barnsley boss Mark Robins made three changes to his side for their final home game of the season as Jon Macken, Bobby Hassell and Jacob Butterfield all came into the starting line-up.

Neil Warnock had resisted the temptation to play some of his youngsters against Watford on Monday, but midfielder Josh Parker made his first start for Rangers, while Tamas Priskin also came into the side.

The Tykes made a good start and Hume found space on the edge of the box and got his shot away but Cerny did well to parry the ball away.

QPR responded and Akos Buszaky tried his luck with a free-kick from 30 yards but Luke Steele in the Barnsley goal was equal to the effort.

Barnsley began to push for the opener and Hume dragged a shot wide from 20 yards before Jonathan Macken saw an effort well blocked by Peter Ramage.

However, just as it looked like the Tykes might break the deadlock, QPR went ahead with 27 minutes gone.

Hogan Ephraim did well down the right and played the ball to Leigertwood who made no mistake with a fine finish into the top left-hand corner from just outside the box.

Barnsley responded well to going behind with Adam Hammill and Macken both having efforts saved by Cerny.

Colace, who was named Barnsley player of the year this week, also had a 20-yard shot parried away by the former Spurs stopper.

The Tykes suffered a further blow before the break when Hammill was forced off injured and QPR almost compounded their misery but Priskin volleyed over.

Both sides made a tentative start to the second-half and the first meaningful chance fell to Butterfield who failed to test Cerny with a shot from 25 yards.

Warnock brought striker Jay Simpson on for Antonio German in a bid to give his side more impetus up front but the on-loan Arsenal man struggled to get into the game.

Barnsley pressed forward in search of the equaliser but the visitors were proving a tough unit to break down, much to the frustration of the Oakwell crowd.

Hassell fired over from 25 yards late on but the home side were unable to find a way through.
