QPR IN THE COMMUNITY

QPR TRUST NEEDS YOU! 20/02/2013

Play your part in R’s new community project
QPR in the Community Trust is giving R’s fans the chance to play their part in an exciting new community project charting the social history of QPR Football Club and the local area.
QPR Trust has partnered with CrowdBnk (a crowdfunding platform that allows projects to raise money for rewards or equity ) and is seeking donations to support funding for ‘The Story of QPR’ – an intergenerational media project in collaboration with Octavia Foundation culminating in the production of a heritage website and documentary film around Rangers and the communities close to Loftus Road.
As a token of appreciation for their donation, supporters  can get exciting rewards ranging from breakfast at the Training Ground and watching QPR’s first-team train  to a VIP invite to the film premiere  or having their name appear on the DVD.
Fans can donate from as little as £20 to help the Trust achieve their ultimate goal of £30,000.
Andy Evans, CEO of QPR in the Community Trust, said:
QPR in the Community Trust along with our partners at Octavia Foundation are really excited after receiving funding towards ‘The Story of QPR’ project from the Premier League and the PFA.
This is a unique project as it will engage with generations of R’s fans as well as local residents, past and present, and those with roots in the area.
This project is about identity, local social history and, most importantly, offering young people the chance to learn new skills.
However, to make the project a success we have partnered with CrowdBnk as we need to fundraise a further £30,000. This is where we need our loyal supporters to make the project possible. We have a range of donation levels that we hope will be of interest to any QPR fan.
Ayan Mitra, CEO of CrowdBnk said:
We are very excited to be working with QPR Trust on this amazing project.
The Story of QPR revolves around the communities in and around Loftus Road and is going to be delivered by young people in the community.
This resonates with the vision behind CrowdBnk which enables ideas to get off the ground with the support of people who feel passionately about them.
This is an excellent example of the social and financial impact crowdfunding can have.
40 young people will be recruited and trained in film-making, media, research and heritage skills as part of the production of the film and other accompanying materials, including a podcast, soundtrack and website.
The Trust will only receive the money if the target of £30,000 is reached. If not, your money is returned.

Paul Parker raises Loftus Road pitch concerns for Manchester United

Former Manchester United full-back Paul Parker has admitted that the club's current players may struggle to break Queens Park Rangers down at the weekend.

The Red Devils head into the match in West London top of the Premier League table, while hosting QPR sit bottom.

However, Parker, who spent five years with United up until 1996, believes that the size of the pitch at Loftus Road will act as a leveller.

"It's very tough at QPR as it's a small ground and it helps them," the 48-year-old told Man United's official website. "I tell you why they keep so many clean sheets there - it's because if a team's great strength is out wide then it kills them.

"It's why wingers have always struggled at QPR. The only player with any width who did well in my time there was Andy Sinton but that's because he had other things about him rather than staying on the touchline. It's a very narrow pitch. It's as simple as that and it's very easy to defend there."

Having begun his career with Fulham, Parker moved to QPR before joining United. Paul Parker raises Loftus Road pitch concerns for Manchester United
