Flashback 40 Years Ago: Roger Morgan's Spurs Debut - Against QPR
Forty Years Ago today, QPR '67 Hero, Roger Morgan Made His Debut for Spurs a few days after his Transfer from QPR. (Posted a few days ago: Roger Morgan and QPR)
[As has been "reported" on various QPR messageboards the past few days.]
News of The World/Aidan Magee - QPR IN PIZZA BRAWL
Rival fans target Wayne Routledge in motorway bust-up
- QPR were involved in a brawl at a service station on their way home from a match.
The Rangers coach pulled in at Watford Gap services on the M1 as the Championship side returned from last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.
- A suspected mix of Cardiff and Brighton supporters recognised the players with winger Wayne Routledge believed to have been targeted by Bluebirds fans after spending time on loan at Ninian Park this season.
- Striker Dexter Blackstock had pizza thrown at him and that sparked a huge melee which spilled into the car park until police were called.
- A bystander said: “There was noise in the food area then a huge fight broke out. The players reacted to goading.” News of The World
Ex-QPR Birthdays Today:
- Mick McGovern - 58 - Born February 15, 1951- At one time, a major QPR prospects, who didn't play too many QPR games. We sold him to Swindon and I believe he made his debut against QPR in 1971 or 1972 (QPR winning 5-0)
- Ernie Howe - 56 - Born February 15, 1953- Signed from Fulham for 50,000 by Frank Sibley, after we (foolishly) sold David Needham to the coming Champions, Nottingham Forrest for 140,000 pounds. (Needham has been Sexton's last signing six months earlier from Notts County, for 90,000 as a replacement for Frank McClintock)
Finally, a "Where Is He Now"?
Two Years ago, today, Taku Watanabe was Released by QPR
- QPR Official Site: Watanabe Leaves "QPR midfielder Taku Watanabe has had his contract terminated with immediate effect...." QPR
