Parejo Speaks
Real Madrid Official Site
"We want to defeat Osasuna"
Carlos Cristobal / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell
- Daniel Parejo was sad for not being able to give the fans a victory against Mallorca last night and praised Fabio Cannavaro for everything he's done for the Club.
- Yesterday was a sad farewell for the team...
Yes, it wasn't pleasant. We were all sad after the match. We wanted a victory because the fans deserved more. They've supported us all season and we were sad after the game because we would have liked to give them a victory.
How can you explain to people the situation the team is going through?
It's hard. Our morale dropped after the match against Barcelona. We practically lost the title, which naturally makes your motivation change. I think these games are hard to play, but the team's intention has always been to take three points, and it will be so again against Osasuna. It's our last game and we want to win.
How much has all the talk about renewing the squad affected the players?
It's a complicated situation, but I think we have to distance ourselves from everything that is being said and take things slowly. Whatever has to happen will happen. We simply have to play at our highest level and make good use of the playing time we each get.
How was Cannavaro's farewell for the squad?
Fabio has given us a lot. He received an incredible and well-deserved ovation for the hard work he's done since he arrived at Real Madrid. we are all a bit sad because we are losing a great team-mate. We wish him all the best. Nevertheless, there is still one game left and that should be the only thing in our minds. Once the season's over we will give him the farewell he deserves for everything the's done for the Club.
Which team would you rather won the Champions League final?
I want football to win, that is to say the team that truly deserves the victory. Real Madrid
Real Madrid Official Site
- Like most of their teammates, Dani Parejo and Gonzalo Higuain were visibly upset Real Madrid were unable to win their final home match of the season.
PAREJO
“I am happy that I was able to play, but am sad that we couldn't please the fans. They deserve it.”
“It was a tough match for both teams. We started off well by scoring early, but that's football for you. They scored three great goals and we couldn't respond.”
“We wanted to win for the fans and for us. Luck wasn't on our sidea and now we need to begin preparing for the next match. Osasuna are in a tough predicament.” Real Madrid

Real Madrid maintained their title chase for a long time, but the clasico defeat left them reeling...
Daniel Parejo has admitted that the hefty home defeat to Barcelona affected Real Madrid's confidence and he is now hoping they can muster up a win on the last day of the season.
Los Merengues slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat on Sunday when they were beaten by Real Mallorca and the run of bad form began when they were hit for six by their arch rivals earlier this month.
With a trip to Osasuna to come, Parejo hopes that Madrid can end the campaign on a high note by recording a win that would send their hosts in the Reyno de Navarra down.
"Our morale dropped after the match against Barcelona. We practically lost the title, which naturally makes your motivation change," he told the club's official website.
"I think these games are hard to play, but the team's intention has always been to take three points, and it will be so again against Osasuna. It's our last game and we want to win.
Parejo returned to Madrid in January after cutting short a loan spell at Queens Park Rangers and he hopes he will have a chance next season to prove himself and not be sold in the predicted summer clear-out.
"It's a complicated situation, but I think we have to distance ourselves from everything that is being said and take things slowly. Whatever has to happen will happen," he continued.
"We simply have to play at our highest level and make good use of the playing time we are given." Lucas Brown, Goal.com
