QPR Official Site - PITCH-ING IN
- Work is well underway on the resurfacing of the Loftus Road pitch ahead of the 2009/10 Coca Cola Championship campaign.
- This year, Sportsturf - our ground contractors - are undertaking a significant pitch renovation, aimed at improving the Loftus Road playing surface ahead of the new season.
- Over £60,000 will be spent on the renovations - the most significant of its kind since the pitch was laid 17 years ago.
- QPR have appointed world renowned pitch consultants, Professional Sportsturf Design, who have recommended a specific renovation programme for the Club, at both Loftus Road and Harlington.
- Work started late last week with the removal of a section of the Loft End seating to facilitate the entry of the copious amounts of large machinery required throughout the whole process.
- Today (Monday) will see the removal of both goals, before one final cut of the grass, followed by the customary weed kill, will allow the real work to begin in earnest later this week, as Sportsturf's Steve Moore explained: "We're using a special piece of machinery, revolutionary designed for the work we are undertaking here.
- "We're one of only four Clubs in the country, including Manchester City, who will be using this machine."
- Moore added: "It's designed specifically to renovate a Desso GrassMaster pitch, which is the type we have here at Loftus Road.
-"The machine enables the top layer of organic and dead matter to be removed, without destroying the Desso fibres in the playing surface.
- "Before this machine was designed, this was prohibited due to the fibres being overly damaged."
- The process will then see the machine pass over the entire pitch ten times, before the dead matter is removed by sweepers.
- The pitch itself will then be redressed with sand, before the new machine passes over the sand, allowing the old existing fibres to be brought to the surface. Therefore, the principles of the Desso GrassMaster pitch stay intact.
- Moore believes the end product will be one the Club will be proud of, adding: "We'll have spent a lot of time and money, but the surface itself should be improved drastically on previous seasons. QPR

- Queens Park Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce a new partnership with Red Bull.
- The one year deal, which will see Red Bull join an already illustrious portfolio of partners at Loftus Road, is worth a five figure sum to the Club.
- QPR Deputy MD, Ali Russell, expressed his delight at the deal, commenting: "I'm absolutely ecstatic to welcome another worldwide brand to the Football Club.
- "Red Bull perfectly complement our existing partners, including Gulf Air, Santander, Lotto Sport Italia and Chronotech, and myself and the team look forward to working closely with them over the coming season."
- As part of the deal, Red Bull will engage in a number of community based projects within the West London boroughs, as well as utilising the five-star hospitality on offer at Loftus Road, on both matchdays and non-matchdays.
- Nigel Trood, Red Bull MD, said: "Red Bull is delighted to be in partnership with Queens Park Rangers Football Club and we are excited about developing our own brand in conjunction with the community team at Loftus Road.
