Burnley Official Site - Carlisle: 'The Future's Bright ,The Future's Claret!"
Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle wrapped up a fourth successive away victory after scoring the winning goal in Saturday's win at Wolves.
The rejuvenated Clarets went 3-1 up at Molineux before halftime, when Carlisle's header found the net following some sublime skill from Robbie Blake and the 28 year-old was full of praise for the trickster's quality delivery.
"Robbie on the ball is so comfortable. He can make a mockery of any defender with his quality and the quickness of his feet," admitted Carlisle.
"He's turned the kid inside out and stood it up to the back post on his left foot I believe. As soon as I saw it coming over it was like Pele in the 58 World Cup screaming goal before I headed it!
"When you get a great delivery like that, I would be doing him an injustice if I didn't get my head on it.
"It's another fantastic away result which the performance warranted. The lads fully deserved it. It's been like that for the past three away matches."
Tuesday's visit of Carlisle's former club QPR sees the Clarets with a chance of climbing to fourth in the table and on the evening itself memories of Rangers' player Ray Jones are set to be paramount with the original fixture in August postponed following his tragic death.
"It was tragic circumstances with the postponement of the first game. Ray was such a young talent within the game who was obviously highly thought of at QPR. I'm sure that the thoughts of all the supporters and the players go out to his family," added Carlisle.
"It's important that we capitalise on our home fixtures. There's no point in going away to the likes of Wolves, Charlton and Watford and getting nine points, if you're not going to get positive results at home."
"If we're serious about being successful this season, we need to make sure we go into these home games in the right frame of mind. No team is going to come here and rollover, we need to match them up and the quality we have within the squad will then produce the goals."
