"Where They Are Now" - Ex-CEO, David Davies

David Davies is the new managing Director of DHP Group. Davies was of course QPR's CEO under Chris Wright and then Nigel Blackburn. After QPR's promotion back to Division Two ("The Championship) he became CEO at the London WASPS. Davies announced his resignation as CEO of the WASPS a few months ago. News Release - DAVIES JOINS DHP GROUP

DHP announced today (3rd December) that it has appointed David Davies as its new Managing Director. Davies takes up his position with DHP with immediate effect.

DHP who recently added The Thekla, in Bristol, to its already well established venues in Nottingham. Those venues include Rock City, The Rescue Rooms, Stealth and the Bodega Social. “The Group wishes to expand its activities in the live music industry and the addition of David to our company will add much needed experience to our team. DHP wishes to increase both the number of venues it owns, as well as promoting more arena shows within the UK” said George Akins, Chairman of DHP Group.

DHP were recently responsible for promoting White Stripes, James Blunt, System of a Down, and Babyshambles.

Davies (49) was most recently CEO of current Heineken Cup Champions, London Wasps. Davies helped establish the club in its new home in High Wycombe, in addition was responsible for establishing the clubs community charity. Formerly Davies had been CEO of Championship club, Queens Park Rangers.

Formerly Davies had been Managing Director of Ogden Entertainment, based in Manchester, with responsibility for Manchester, Newcastle and Oberhausen Arenas. Davies was also Deputy Chair of the Bridgewater Hall, the home of the Halle Orchestra.

Commenting on his appointment, David Davies, said: “I am very excited by the opportunity. DHP have stated their ambition to expand its operation within the live music industry. Having been involved in professional sport at the highest level, I welcome the change of direction and look forward to helping the board move the company forward.

“Following a review of our operational strategy going forward, we decided that the appointment of an MD was a requirement to meet the increasing needs and ambition of the company in an increasingly competitive live music market. During the interview David us impressed with his desire and ambition, we wish David all the very best with the company” added Chairman George Akins.
