All QPR fans wish Waddock the very best of luck.
Aldershot Official Site - Management Team Sign New Contracts
Aldershot Town FC are delighted to announce that manager Gary Waddock and Coach Martin Kuhl have signed new three year agreements with the club. This news was exclusively announced on The Shots Online SMS text service
Manager Gary Waddock and Coach Martin Kuhl have signed new three year deals with the club.
Boss Waddock joined the club at the start of last season after an extensive playing career accumulating over 500 senior appearances including spells at QPR, Luton Town, Millwall, Bristol Rovers and at Charleroi (Belgium).
In addition he made 21 international appearances for the Republic of Ireland. He was responsible for the reserve and youth structure at QPR before serving a period as first team manager at Loftus Road.
He arrived at Aldershot in May 2007 and led the club into the Football League at his first attempt in addition to winning the Setanta Shield . He has, however, always praised the efforts of Martin Kuhl.
Talking to 'The Shots' the boss said, "Both Martin and I are delighted to sign the new agreement.
"We had an extremely good season last year and we want to build on that and we have the time to do that.
"It was a gamble coming to Aldershot last season and I am sure some of the fans were wondering if it would work out.
"Everybody worked hard and Martin's knowledge of the Conference was a major, major help.
"We have a young and enthusiastic squad who worked extremely hard and did so well but that is part of the clubs history now. We want to push the club forward as we step up a level".
Martin Kuhl was appointed Caretaker Manager upon the departure of Terry Brown in March 2007 and, upon the
appointment of Gary Waddock, reverted to First Team Coach in May 2007.
Frimley born Martin started his career at Birmingham City and, in total, made over 400 appearances including spells at Sheffield United, Watford, Portsmouth, Bristol City and Derby County.
He joined Aldershot as a player in 2000 when he was signed by former manager George Borg.
In his eight years at the club he has also served as Community Officer, Reserve and Youth Team manager . He is also a UEFA 'A' badge qualified coach.
Martin added, "Gary and I have a great belief in this squad. We have a great understanding and are similar in our football beliefs.
"Our first object was to get back to the Football League where we were both players and we have achieved that.
"We have always had respect for each other.
"We have a confident squad with pace and ability to score goals. We are stepping up a level and everything about the club expectation wise is higher.
"There are great games to look forward to with local derbies against the likes of Brentford and AFC Bournemouth but you have to earn the right to succeed and it will be all about plenty of hard graft".
Chairman John McGinty added, "This is a great day. We have just secured the services of two great guys who are a great combination and a real credit to Aldershot Town FC.
"We had a great season last time around but we are aware that today's newspapers have tomorrow's chips on it.
"We have to be careful and sensible in order to do this job properly but the stability of the management and playing staff is so important as we prepare for the new season."
Comprehensive audio interviews with John McGinty, Gary Waddock and Martin Kuhl will shortly be available on The Shots Online. Aldershot
