In a few hours, the 2008-2009 Fixtures come out in what hopefully will be QPR's promotion - even title-winning season! Last year fans groups were protesting the prohibition on publishing fixtures - Free The Fixtures . Recently the Football League explained the process for compiling the fixtures Flashback: John Gregory's initial reaction to 2007-08 Fixtures
Marking QPR Report's Third Anniversary-
The first QPR Report posting, June 16, 2005, was made at a time of some optimism for QPR. The concept for starting QPR Report was just as a resource to compile and document the great variety of stories about QPR and to engage in QPR "nostalgia." However as things turned out, besides on-the-field activities and transfer news, those first few months included the period of "the (alleged/found "not guilty") gun incident" "the boardroom takeover;" And over the years, there were various issues that QPR Report took note of including just compiling and reminding what had previously been said.
QPR fans scarcely need to be told about how eventful these past three years have been - both on and off the field. From the optimism of having just fairly-succesfully concluded our first season back in the "Second Division" or Championship; the Ibiza "triumph"; and then seemingly-good summer signings (Moore et al). Six managers in charge (Holloway, Waddock, Gregory, Harford, De Canio and Dowie); high backroom staff turnover; various signings; repeated "unfortunate" stories in the press; and two relegation-avoiding fights and repeated reports of financial difficulties. And much, much. much more: Threatened legal action against the Fan magazine AKUTRs; a bizarre Italy tour; a "non-game" against Witney; a "non-game" followed by a brawl, against China XI. And always taxes to be paid and an ABC Loan to be concerned about. And then late last summer, the last-gap takeover of the club by wealthy men auguring a hoped-for super-new era for QPR. And above it all, QPR continued.
And just among QPR Sites: In the past three years there have been several changes and additions: Clive Whittingham's move from Rivals to Fanzine; Battletank starting/reviving QPR.org; the launch of Independent Rs, We Are The Rangers Boys, QPR Fans, Vital QPR - and the continuation of various other sites such as the now-named dot.org, QPRNet, Dave's QPR, LSA, QPR1st and of course, the Official Site. So after, three years years of posting (and some 3500+ posts) and a gratifying increase in visitors to the site, onwards and upwards!
After a few months of blogging, the site briefly vanished before starting anew in December 2005. Some of the recovered earley QPR Report Postings . A couple of weeks after starting QPR Report, started QPR Memories...And a few months ago, QPR USA
And then just for nostalgia: Reliving the past three years. Old QPR Report material can be searched here.
Ex-QPR forward and defender, Wayne Fereday Turns 45
Born June 16, 1963. Given his debut by Tommy Docherty in August 1980 (after QPR had sold Clive Allen and Paul Goddard - and a few weeks before Docherty was replaced by Terry Venables), 17 year Wayne Fereday scared twice against Bristol Rovers. After almost a decade at QPR and some 200 League appearances, Fereday joined Jim Smith's Newcastle in June 1989.
