BORO have given Newcastle United permission to talk to goalkeeping coach Paul Barron about a move to St James' Park.
The parties are currently in talks but nothing has been completed as yet.
Barron joined Boro from a similar role at Aston Villa when Steve McClaren joined the club in 2001.
He played for Plymouth, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, West Brom and QPR goalkeeper and before Villa had coached at Coventry, QPR and West Brom.
Boro goalkeeping legend Stephen Pears, who is currently responsible for development at Academy level, assisted Mark Schwarzer and Ross Turnbull with their warm-up before the game at the Reebok Stadium yesterday afternoon. Report
