25 Years Ago: Last Time a QPR Player Scored Four Goals...as Venables' QPR Marched Towards Wembley

-
This season marks the Silver Anniversary/Quarter of a Century of QPR's FA Cup (almost) Triumph. (Although the club seems to be focusing far more on another QPR Triumph: the 40th Anniversary of QPR's League Cup Triumph).

Twenty-Five years ago (plus a couple of days) was the last time a QPR player scored four goals in a first team game. That player of course, was Clive Allen. And the match was the 4th Round replay against Blackpool at Loftus Road. Terry Venables QPR won the game 5-1 (Allen 4, Stainrod, Penalty).

The team that night January 26, 1982:
Hucker
Fenwick Howe Roeder Gillard
Currie Gregory Waddock
Allen Stainrod Flanagan
Sub: Ian Stewart.

[Blackpool are somewhat of a lucky team for QPR. Recalling the 1969 6-1 victory over Blackpool at Loftus Road: Rodney Marsh 3: Barry Bridges 2 and Terry Venables 1); the opening day 5-0 victory over Blackpool in August 2003 (our promotion season); or the season before, the Langley hattrick at Blackpool.) And of course all QPR fans will remember it was Blackpool that QPR pipped on goal aggregate to win promotion to the old First Division.]
