Millwall have been given permission to speak to Kenny Jackett, the Manchester City reserve team manager, about the managerial vacancy at the New Den.
Millwall sacked Willie Donachie on October 8 after a miserable sequence of results left them languishing at the bottom of the League One table.
Richard Shaw, the veteran defender and coach Colin West have since been in temporary charge, but former Swansea manager Jackett now appears to be the overwhelming favourite to land the post.
A statement from City said: “Manchester City can confirm that the club has given permission for Kenny Jackett to speak to Millwall with regard to their vacant manager’s position following the recent departure of Willie Donachie.
“Jackett became the Blues’ reserve-team manager in March this year, and temporarily stepped up to help out with the first team when Hans Backe was given compassionate leave earlier this season.” The Times
