On this day...
August 21, 1965: "The Revolution" began - except QPR Fans weren't really aware of it at the time! Recently-installed QPR Chairman, Jim Gregory had spent heavily on the team. The response of Alec Stock's QPR: To lose their opener to biggest rivals Brentford, 6-1. (Roger Morgan scoring for QPR) All four new signings made their debuts: Ian Watson (Chelsea), Jim Langley (Fulham), Les Allen (Spurs) and Keith Sanderson (Plymouth) Aug 21, 1965. QPR's team: Smith Langley, Watson, Hazell, Brady, Keen, Collins, R Morgan, McAdams Sanderson, Allen. This marked the start of a long association between members of the Allen family and QPR.
August 21, 1976: QPR who had so tragically lost the League Championship race to Liverpool at the very last minute, just a few months earlier, opened the season with a home game against Everton (over whom the'd gotten the double the previous season, including a 5-0 home victory. This time was a very different result as Bob Latchford destroyed QPR: QPR 0 Everton 4 as it became clear no new title race for QPR (PArkes Clement Gillard Mclintock Hollins Masson Leach Bushby Thomas, Bowles Givens - Sub Shanks. (The days of a long summer break: Almost four months between QPR's last game against Leeds; and the opening game against Everton)
August 21, 1991 - Gerry Francis first home game in charge having replaced Don Howe. Having on the opening day, drawn at Asenal (virtually winning!). In his home debut, Norwich once again ruined things for QPR! QPR 0 Norwich 2.

And flashing back all the way back...Sixty Years Ago Today: QPR's First Ever Game in the Second Divison: August 21, 1948: QPR drew 0-0 at Luton. QPR's team included Reg Allen (who went on to play for Manchester United), Bert Addinall and Ivor Powell (recently awarded the MBE and still coaching). Full team: Allen, Jefferson, G. Powell, I. Powell, A. Smith, G. Smith, McEwan, Mills, Addinall Hartburn, Hatton.
August 21, 2001: Seven Years ago today: QPR's "traditional" loss to Northampton in the Cup.
BBC- 21 August, 2001: Northampton 2-1 QPR
Substitute Paul McGregor came off the bench to snatch a victory as Northampton came from behind to end Queens Park Rangers' interest in this season's Worthington Cup.
It had looked as though a bizarre 16th-minute own goal from central defender Ian Evatt would be enough to see Rangers into the next round.
Marco Gabbiadini had three good chances before the interval but it was not until the 90th minute that Jamie Forrester equalised after Chris Day had saved his initial effort.
Forrester and James Hunt then created the opening for McGregor to slot home the winner from 15 yards five minutes into the second period of extra-time. BBC
Five Years ago today, August 21, 2003 Leon Knight chose Brighton over QPR! (Bad choice!)
BBC - August 21 2003 - Brighton land Chelsea striker
Leon Knight has signed for BrightonBrighton have beaten Queens Park Rangers to the signing of Chelsea striker Leon Knight.
The 20-year-old, who has been on loan with the Seagulls, turned down Rangers after both Second Division clubs agreed a deal with Chelsea.
Knight had a loan spell with QPR in 2001 and Rangers' boss Ian Holloway tried to persuade him to return.
But Knight opted to stay at the Withdean Stadium, where he scored twice against QPR on Monday.
Holloway made his move for Knight after selling midfielder Richard Langley to Cardiff last week and had hoped to have him on board by the time his side faced Steve Coppell's men.
Knight was once tipped as a future replacement for Gianfranco Zola at Chelsea.
But he has been unable to establish himself in the first-team at Stamford Bridge.
As well as his spells with Rangers and Brighton, he has been loaned to Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday. BBC
