August 19, 1967: Forty-One years ago! Newly-promoted QPR kicked off their first season back in Division II with a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth. Roger Morgan scored QPR's goal. Ron Springett made his return debut for QPR. Rodney Marsh was out with a broken foot. (QPR's team: Springett. Clement Keetch, Hazell, Harris, Lazarus, Keen, I. Morgan, R. Morgan, Allen, Leach.


August 19, 1972, Gordon Jago's version of "Total Football": QPR made their home debut (having drawn their opening game 2-2 at Swindon) winning 4-2 against Sheffield Wednesday with Don Givens making his home debut (Bowles and Thomas had yet to join!) (Goals from Francis, O'Rourke, Givens, Leach). Parkes, Clement, Mancinin Hazell, Watson, VEnables, Francis Busby, Leach O'Rouke, Givens.


August 19, 1975: Having defeated Liverpool on opening day, QPR had another home game, which unfortunately they drew 1-1 versus Aston Villa. Gerry Francis scoring again: Parkes, Clement McLintock, Abbot, Gillard, Francis, Masson, Leach, Bowles, Thomas, Givens.


August 19, 1978 (in what turned out to be QPR's relegation season. Steve Burtenshaw made his debut as QPR manager. QPR lost 1-2 at Liverpool. Paul McGee scoring. Team: Parkes, Clement Howe, Shanks Gillard, Hollins, Francis, Busby, Bowles, Eastoe, Mcgeee


August 19, 1980 - QPR's first home game: Bristol Rovers. (after losing the openier at Oldham), Wayne Fereday made his QPR debut with 2 goals as QPR won 4-0 against Bristol Rovers. Team: Woods, Mcreery, Gillard, Wicks, Roeder Currie, Waddock Shanks, Burke, Hill, Fereday, Hazell!


August 19, 1987 QPR 1 Derby 1. Having won opener at West Ham 3-0, QPR drew 1-1 Bannister qith Paul Parker making his home debut.

August 19,1989 - QPR 2 Crystal Palace 0 - Mark Wright on his debut scored twice. 2. Martin Allen's last game as he left Trevor Francis's QPR. Team: Seaman, CHanning McDonald, Parker, Sansom, Spackman REid, Wright Clarke Sinton

August 19, 1992 - First home game QPR 3-1 Southampton 1 (Ferdinand 2 and Bardsley). Team: Roberts Bardsley, MCdonald, Peacock, Wilson Sinton Holloway, Wilkins, Impey, Bailey Ferdinand


August 19, 1995 -In what turned out to be QPR's final season in the Premiership, Ray Wilkins's Les Ferdinand departed QPR started with a narrow away loss at Blackburn 1-0. Team: Roberts, Bardsley, Brevett, Holloway, Impey, Maddix Maconald Wilkins, Sinclair Barker, Dichio Gallen - Osborn Sub.
