QPR Snippets II: Doncaster's Manager on Big (Physically) and "Well Balanced" QPR....Dowie and Leigertwood Look Forward...Pat Kanyuka on His Injuries

-
QPR Report will obviously always post the pre-match comments of players and managers, but there does seem to be a limited connection between what is said and what actually occurs! Meanwhile one has to feel sorry for ex-QPR Pat Kanyuka who has endured numerous injuries in his sport playing career.

DONCASTER OFFICIAL SITE - THEY ARE A BALANCED SIDE - SEAN
Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll is under no illusion of the test that awaits his players as the Rovers travel to Loftus Road.
The London side has undergone a renovation following the huge cash injection from Italian Formula One supremo Flavio Briatore.
And, after assessing Saturday's opposition, Sean O'Driscoll insists that it isn't only the cash input at Queens Park Rangers isn't the only thing about the club that is on the large scale.
"They have about eight players who are 6'2'' plus - so that makes them big," says Sean.
"I think that if you're big, you can't not get away with being physical. You can't have a 6'2'' 'namby-pamby'; it would be pointless in football. They are big and they are physical and that leads to people saying that they will be 'crash, bang, wallop' and Iain Dowie has never been that type of player or that type of manager or coach and I think that is a bit harsh if that is the kind of take they get."
"They've got one or two skillful players and a couple of foreigners that they have brought in and it's a case of merging the two. You need the physical strength in the English league, but you also need guile. QPR, on paper, look to be a well balanced side." Doncaster

Ealing Times/Simon Mail - Dowie pleased by comebacks
QPR first-team coach Iain Dowie was delighted to see Martin Rowlands return to action in the 2-2 friendly draw with West Ham this week.
The midfielder player 65 minutes in Tuesday's game and is back in contention for the home match with Doncaster tomorrow after serving a three-match suspension. Hogan Ephraim also made his return from shin splints and could figure this weekend.
Dowie said: "It was good to see them in action and obviously the likes of Rowly and Hogan are in my thoughts ahead of the Doncaster game." Ealing Times

QPR Official Site - MIKELE: 'IT'S TIME TO BOUNCE BACK'
Mikele Leigertwood insists Rangers are determined to bounce back from last weekend's defeat at Bramall Lane, with victory against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
In an exclusive interview - which can be read in its entirety in Saturday's 'Hoops' A4 anniversary souvenir programme - the R's midfielder reveals his hurt at the R's 3-0 loss in the Steel City.
"From the moment we conceded our first goal it was an uphill task," he said.
"Of course it's disappointing. We planned all week long and within a couple of minutes we were behind.
"Goals change games and they came out the blocks really well and we did the complete opposite.
"We've only got ourselves to blame, but football being football, we've got the chance to put the wrongs of that display to right against Doncaster."
Leigertwood added: "Without any shadow of doubt, we need to bounce back.
"We let ourselves and our fans down on Saturday, so now is the time to respond."

Western Daily Press - Pat Kanyuka: I feel like broken-down car
Swindon Town defender Patrick Kanyuka has likened himself to a broken-down car after an injury-plagued start to his County Ground career.
But the former QPR man is hoping a return to action against Colchester tomorrow will provide his fledgling career with a jump-start.
Kanyuka, 21, is in contention for a place at the heart of defence after injury ruled him out of the first three games of the season.
A hamstring complaint has been the latest in a catalogue of problems that have restricted his Town career to less than four hours of first-team action since arriving in the January transfer window.
"It is getting better every day and things are looking good now," Kanyuka said.
I am ready to play again and it is up to the manager now whether he selects me.
"It has been very frustrating because, after getting through pre-season, I thought I might have turned a corner.
"I am still confident but half of the time I feel like a broken-down car. I never know if I am going to start in the morning or not!"
Kanyuka will be hoping to make only his 19th senior appearance since turning professional more than three years ago. He added: "Some of my friends say I am cursed, but I don't believe that.
"It has just been rotten luck and I am just hoping that is about to go away for good.
"There is nothing you can do about injuries. When you play the game fully committed then there is a chance you are going to get hurt."
Meanwhile, Town boss Maurice Malpas believes play-off hopefuls Colchester are suffering an early-season hangover after their relegation from the Championship last season.
The U's have not won either of their two league games so far and some supporters were calling for the head of manager Geraint Williams after the 4-2 loss at Hartlepool on the opening day.
"There is always a bit of a hangover period after you suffer a relegation," Malpas said.
"One or two players think that they won't have to do too much to win promotion at the first attempt – but that is easier said than done.
"It is difficult to get the consistency and there are a lot of subconscious negatives because of relegation the season before."
However, with players such as experienced target man Clive Platt, tricky winger Mark Yeates and former Cheltenham sharp-shooter Steven Gillespie among their ranks, Malpas knows that it is only a matter of time before the U's start firing on all cylinders.
"They have experienced Championship players and they look as though they want to play football in the right way," he added. Western Daily Press
