QPR: League may probe Blitz loan

League may probe Blitz loan

QPR are confident they will face no action when the Football League meets tomorrow to discuss their controversial loan from Simon Blitz.
Rangers are in the process of repaying the £500,000 they received from Blitz, the Oldham Athletic chairman, as part of his proposed investment in the club earlier this summer.
A national newspaper report claimed last weekend that the Rs could be deducted points or even relegated if the League's board decides that a breach of their rules took place.
QPR have strongly denied that, as the newspaper claimed, their cheque to Blitz 'bounced' - and have also stressed that their dealings have always been with Blitz as an individual, never with Oldham.
A Loftus Road insider told the Times: "We were surprised by the story. We haven't been asked to attend the Football League meeting or told there is anything we need to reply to.
"The loan will be repaid in full. The club has contacted both the FA and Football League and they have confirmed they are not taking any action."
Football League spokesman Jon Nagle stated: "To our knowledge, at this point in time, the monies have not been paid. The matter will be discussed by the League board at their monthly meeting on Thursday."
Rangers accepted Blitz's money as part of their attempts to refinance the crippling ABC loan, but agreed to return it after learning that the FA had not authorised the arrangement.

Meanwhile, QPR are hopeful of adding a new goalkeeper to the squad ahead of their first pre-season friendly, against Scottish Double winners Celtic on Sunday (2pm)...
. But Rangers may have to readjust the rest of their pre-season schedule after Shrewsbury pulled out of their planned friendly.

Ben Kosky/Kilburn Times - Harford can help Ray reach a higher level
TEENAGE striker Ray Jones believes Mick Harford's arrival is just what he needs to force his way back into QPR's starting line-up this season.
Jones burst onto the scene under former Rangers manager Gary Waddock and then netted twice in the first two games after John Gregory took over, both resulting in wins.
But the rangy centre-forward made way for more experienced men in the second half of last season and the recent signing of Danny Nardiello from Barnsley has intensified the competition for places up front.
Harford, newly installed as Gregory's number two, was widely respected as a top-level forward during his playing days and Jones, who is still only 18, hopes some of that experience will rub off on him.
"I didn't see Mick Harford play, but I've heard a lot about him - the lads were saying he's a tough character and I've heard he was a bit aggressive as a player," Jones told the Times.
"I think that's something I could do with, to add to my own game and get me going. Last year was my first full season and it went quite well, but I could have done a lot better too.
"It'll be interesting to see who's starting when the season begins. When I get a chance to start or come on as sub, I just have to do the best I can and hope I impress the manager.
"Signing Nardiello was good news because it means more competition, which is healthy, and he's been at Manchester United, so he's bringing some good experience to the club.
"When we played against Barnsley last season, he was a real danger, he seemed to command his area well and I'm sure I can learn a lot from him."
Jones' last first-team goal came on New Year's Day against Colchester...
Rangers spurned two offers from Colchester for the teenager, who also attracted an audacious bid of £50,000 from Fulham during his lengthy contract negotiations with the Rs last winter.
But Jones insisted: "The club let me know what was going on and of course it's nice to know you've been noticed, but you can't get fazed by that.
"There are always going to be offers for players at this time of year and you have to keep your head down and do your best.
"With the character we've got at the club and the calibre of players that are coming in, I think we can definitely be challenging for the play-offs."
Jones and Nardiello will both be tussling for places alongside last year's top scorer Dexter Blackstock, Stefan Moore, and Marc Nygaard, who finally penned a new contract last week.
Gregory has not ruled out adding another forward to his squad, though, and it is worth noting that the number 10 shirt, previously worn by Kevin Gallen, remains vacant. Kilburn Times
