QPR Birthdays: Abbott, Eastoe, Cook, Ardilles and Roberts

-
Two ex-QPR's Turn 55 today: Ron Abbott and Peter Eastoe. And tomorrow, two more QPR-connected players: Ossie Ardilles and Lee Cook...And then on Monday, Tony Roberts turns 29.

Ron Abbott Turns 55
Born August 2, 1953. Ron Abbott began as a "big/strong" center forward and there had been big hopes about his future (along with fellow forward, Alan Mayes). Abbott made his debut in August 1973 away at West Ham, scoring. Over the next few years, Abbott played a handful of games as a center back (including in QPR amazing 5-1 win at then Champions Derby in August 1976...almost exactly 30 years ago. In that game, Abbott played alongside another youngster, Tony Tagg.) See Abbott's Record

Peter Eastoe Turns 55..
Also born August 2, 1953, Peter. Eastoe was signed from Swindon in March 1976 (our "Championship" Season) for about 90,000, with Don Rogers returning to Swindon. The ex-Wolves forward didn't play in that Championship season, and the next season slowly got into the team...playing in our League Cup Semi-Final "playoff" (defeat) versus Aston Villa at Highbury (Brian Little hattrick!) Eastoe was transferred to Everton in March 1979 (in our Steve Burtenhaw relegation season) in a straight swop for Everton's ex- Blackpool forward, Mickey Walsh. See Wikipedia/Peter Eastoe and also: Eastoe's Record

Note: Tomorrow is Returning-to-QPR player Lee Coook's 26th birthday. Wikipedia/
Note when he was last at QPR, Cook wore the #17 shirt when he was last at QPR. That shirt is currently held by Simon Walton...!

Ossie Ardiles also turns 56 tomorrow - Born August 3, 1952 - Ossie Ardiles/Wikipedia

On Monday, August 4, Tony Roberts turns 39. Currently still goalkeeping for Dagenham. Over a decade at QPR, between 1987 and 1997, Roberts made 122 appearances. Wikipedia/Roberts
