QPR FACE DROP OVER LOAN DEAL - Sunday Mirror - - - - -----

By Paul Smith 08/07/2007

QUEENS Park Rangers face being relegated from the Championship or handicapped with a severe points deduction when the Football League board meet on Thursday.
The League is furious that QPR seriously breached their rules by entering into an illegal loan agreement with League One Oldham.
They borrowed £500,000 against the future sale of 24-year-old winger Lee Cook. The Football League has ordered QPR to repay the money.
But QPR's financial crisis has deepened leaving them in a perilous position after the original cheque they issued to - repay Oldham bounced.
However, QPR chairman Gianni Paladini insisted last night: "We paid the cheque to Oldham on Friday. I can tell you now that everything is satisfactory."
A Football League source said: "We have unlimited powers to take an acceptable course of action in the case of QPR." Sunday Mirror

May 6, after the issue became public, a QPR official statement declared "...QPR has agreed to pay the loan back forthwith."

Comments:
This would finish our club. Morale would be wrecked; no half-decent new signings, poor crowds.

You have to ask if this is more than merely paper talk, what kind of people do we have running our great club? Are they honest but stupid, or are they a bunch of crooks?

I've always given Paladini & Co.the benefit of the doubt. The only time he has ever really raised my hackles has been in getting rid of Holloway (a good man with an inspirational attitude). I think whatever his original motives may have been in investing in the club (benign or questionable-I have no way of knowing) he has come to genuinely care about QPR. We all know some chairmen have egos much bigger than their bank balance. This alone should not make someone an unfit chairman. But if this 'points docking'or worse, 'relegation'is effected as punishment the fans are the ones who will really suffer. Pray this is not true...because if so, this club will be in the Conference (or whatever it is now called) faster than I can bat an eyelid. This will be the end.
