Shock: Players coming out in support of their new manager! A classic case of "Le Roi est mort. Vive le Roi."(Yet to be posted: Declarations of Joy from Captains Rowland and Ainsworth. Ainsworth was of course set to be player coach under De Canio. This presumably might change. Or hopefully, he'll fit into the Dowie coaching pattern as De Canio's two Italian coaches have now departed.
QPR Official Site - Net Gain Dexter Blackstock
Dexter Blackstock believes the arrival of new First Team Coach Iain Dowie will only serve to enhance his aspirations at both Club and international level.
Speaking less than 24 hours after earning his second England Under-21 cap in the Young Lions' 2-0 victory against Wales, the R's goal-getter expressed his delight at Dowie's appointment.
"The arrival of the new gaffer can only be a good thing for me and all the other forwards at the Club," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
"As a striker, I am always keen to learn new things and working with someone like Iain, who has played at the very highest level, can only be a positive step forward for me personally.
"He's certainly the right man for the job. I've spoken to Fitz and Mikele who have played for him before, and I've also had a chat with Leon Best, who was with him at Coventry. They all spoke very highly of him and his reputation within the game speaks for itself."
In front of the watching Fabio Capello, Blackstock entered the fray as a 57th minute substitute at The Racecourse Ground last night and although he admits he found it 'tough to get to grips with the pace of the game,' he was ultimately pleased with his overall contribution.
"It was played at a really fast pace," he said.
"It's never easy playing up-front on your own, but we kept the ball well late on and I was able to get some neat touches of the ball.
"There was quality throughout the side and it was great to be involved."
After a long, hard season, Blackstock is looking forward to a few weeks rest now, before the hard work starts again in late June.
"I'll rest up over the next few weeks and then we'll hit the ground running at the end of June," he said.
"Pre-season will be tough, as it always is, but we all know where we stand now that the Club have made a quick appointment - and that is very beneficial to everyone involved." QPR
QPR Official Site Pat Agyemang "THAT'LL DO ME
Patrick Agyemang is relishing the opportunity to work under new First Team Coach Iain Dowie.
The R's front-man told www.qpr.co.uk: "I was surprised when I heard Luigi De Canio had left the Club, but Iain Dowie is a good Manager to come in.
"He has had success in the Championship before, and he knows how to get out of this league.
"A couple of the boys here know him from previous Clubs and they speak very highly of him.
"He knows how to bring the best out of his players, and hopefully he can do that here with all of us."
Agyemang added: "I managed to score a few goals this year, and I am confident I will be able to carry that on under the new Manager.
"There's pressure on us to impress him now, and that can only be good for the Club.
"There's high expectation surrounding QPR for next season. We're one of the favourites to go up, and hopefully we will."
