Then goals by Balanta and Buszaky put QPR 2-0. Then Nott F made it 2-1...QPR came to the game with 1 point from previous 4 games. Nottingham Forest are still looking for their first away point of the season after their 2-1 defeat at Loftus Road.
It was an evenly matched first half with chances for both sides. Forest looked threatening at times and showed pace through Paul Anderson and Garath McCleary and would have been pleased with the half time clean sheet.
But two goals for the home side early in the second half gave Forest an uphill struggle against a strong Rangers defence. They managed to get a late goal back but were unable to improve on that.
Forest started well and Nathan Tyson had the first chance in the third minute when he turned well to get away from Damion Stewart, but the ball bobbled wide of the post.
Paul Anderson's first touch on his debut created another chance when he outsprinted the Rangers fullback and delivered the ball low across the six-yard box, but Radek Cerny got there just before Tyson to make the save.
Rangers won a corner when Martin Rowlands' shot from 25 yards was blocked by Kelvin Wilson and Paul Smith easily punched away Lee Cook's effort from the corner.
And the home side had a chance when Damien Delaney's cross came in to Dexter Blackstock who got away from his markers and sent Smith diving away to his right to palm the ball away.
Anderson made a superb break to get the ball back down the other end before feeding it to Chris Cohen. He nodded the ball forward towards Tyson but Cerny just managed to get a fingertip to the ball to prevent it connecting with the Forest striker's head.
Smith had to react quickly when he dropped the ball trying to stop Akos Buzsaky's effort. It went behind him but Smith quickly turned and grabbed the ball out of the air before it could cross the line.
Andrew Cole produced some superb football when he got the ball forward but Fitz Hall did well to lunge forward and put the ball out of Tyson's reach.
Joel Lynch replaced Julian Bennett at half time, the Forest defender having struggled with his fitness during the week.
Forest had a chance in the opening minute after good delivery by Cohen gave Cole the chance to get a good header in on target from a tight angle and Cerny did well to make the save.
But it was Rangers who took the lead just three minutes into the half from a long throw-in. The ball went across the six-yard box, two players went up for it with Angelo Balanta getting the final touch and the ball went off the top of the crossbar and over the line.
And they increased their lead on the hour mark after a poor defensive header by Lynch gave Buzaki the chance to hit a shot from the edge of the penalty area to the left of Smith and into the bottom right of the goal.
As Forest struggled to get back into the game Lewis McGugan replaced Carl Fletcher and Arron Davies came on for Anderson, who had done well to play 73 minutes.
But Rangers continued to threaten and Buzaki nearly made it three with a chip towards the top corner which just went over the crossbar and onto the top of the net.
McGugan took his chance with a left-foot volley from 20 yards, but the ball went over the bar.
Cole and Tyson combined well with an effort which forced Cerny's best save of the game. A flick from Cole to Tyson, who turned onto it and aimed low for the corner, forced the keeper to tip the ball round the post for a Forest corner from which Cohen wasted a chance, sending the ball flying over the bar from six yards out.
Forest got one back with a superbly taken free kick seven minutes from time after a foul by substitute Samuel Di Carmine on Cohen. McGugan stepped up to claim the free kick and curled a right-footed shot into the top corner from 25 yards out.
But although Forest went down fighting they were unable to find an equalizer and their first away point of the season still evades them. Nottingham Forest

- QPR had Akos Buzsaky to thank to restore that winning feeling to Loftus Road after the Hungarian midfield maestro scored a stunning goal to steal maximum points from a battling Nottingham Forest.
- Youngster Angelo Balanta had given the R's the lead minutes into the second half, before Buzsaky drilled a fine shot beyond visiting keeper Paul Smith to double the Hoops' advantage.
- Forest hit back through Lewis McGugan's perfectly taken free-kick but Rangers held on to claim a very welcome three points.
- Rangers Manager Iain Dowie made changes for the visit of Forest introducing Balanta and Buzsaky to try and add some new attacking potential.
- Samuel Di Carmine, Gavin Mahon and Emmanuel Ledesma all had seats in the dugout.
- No Robert Earnshaw meant starts for Andrew Cole and Nathan Tyson in attack and new loan signing Carl Fletcher was immediately handed a start in the centre of midfield.
A bright Rangers start led to the home side registering the opening effort. Fitz Hall's long throw was helped on by Damion Stewart but Smith was alert to catch the loose ball.
Forest hit back and Julian Bennett sent a long pass up for Tyson to chase. The striker, however, could only blaze his effort well wide of the target.
Buzsaky then saw a free-kick strike the wall as the momentum swung backwards and forwards in the early going.
Seconds later, Dexter Blackstock rose well to head at Smith but could not garner enough power from Buzsaky's left wing cross.
With Rangers slowly asserting their authority on the game, Buzsaky tried again. This time the Hungarian picked up on a loose ball, controlling it with his chest. As it fell to his feet, he volleyed it sweetly but was disappointed to see it fly wide of Smith's right hand post.
With just over 20 minutes gone, Damien Delaney fizzed over a left wing cross that Blackstock did well to get a strong foot to. Smith did equally well to push it round the post however.
Seconds later, Radek Cerny did ever so well to deny Tyson with a superb save.
Minutes later, Forest hearts were in mouths as Buzsaky's long range strike was fumbled on the line by Smith. Fortunately for Forest keeper he gathered at the second attempt.
A lull in the tempo was broken when first Delaney fired a volley over the bar and then Tyson did the same. The latter's, in fairness, was a far harder chance as he acrobatically tried to turn in a cross.
The second half opened with another fine save from Cerny as Cole headed a Forest corner towards goal.
However, Rangers took that as a spur to score the opening goal of the game. Another long Hall throw was very well flicked on by Delaney. The ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced out but Balanta was on hand to tap home giving the Rangers fans an excuse to bring the house down.
Delaney showed equal quality at the other end minutes later as he stopped Cole from slotting beyond Cerny with a commanding tackle when under pressure.
Just before the hour Rangers doubled their lead. Yet another Hall throw was cleared this time by the Forest defence, but only so far as Buzsaky. The Magical Magyar readied himself and beautifully drilled a left-foot shot through a crowded box into the bottom left-hand corner.
Unfortunately, Hall had to make way for Matthew Connolly just past the hour mark with the big man suffering from illness.
With Forest looking to push on, Buzsaky tried the spectacular. Picking up the ball on the right, he jinked back on himself and whipped a left foot round the ball to send it screaming towards goal. With the crowd in disbelief it appeared to be heading right into the top corner but landed on top of the goal instead.
With quarter of an hour left to play, Italian striker Di Carmine replaced goal hero Balanta.
Forest continued to look for a way back into the game. Tyson hit a well-struck volley that once again needed a strong hand from Cerny. From resultant corner Luke Chambers blazed over when well placed.
But Rangers were in the swing of it now and Martin Rowlands fed a great ball into Peter Ramage whose cross only needed a touch but instead was smothered by Smith.
Against the run of play, Forest scored themselves. McGugan, freshly on as a substitute, curled a sweet free-kick beyond the despairing dive of Cerny.
To steady the boat, Dowie introduced Mahon to sure things up in midfield and offer additional protection as Forest searched in vain for an equaliser, but it was Rangers who celebrated at fulltime as they held on for the win.
