Dowie Reportedly Saves His Job

-
- As noted by a poster on a QPR messageboard, today's Mail on Sunday (Specific article, not currently online) reports that Iain Dowie met last week with QPR Chairman Flavio Briatore - and retained his job! According to the article, "Dowie was close to being sacked when he was summoned to Loftus Road by Briatore last week to discuss a poor run of results."
- Dowie reportedly informed Briatore of the need for strikers - with Championship know-how. An unnamed source is quoted in the Sunday Mail article as saying: "The way the meeting went was a bit unexpected. Iain thought he had nothing to lose and he might as well be up front and honest. Instead of being a yes-man with Flavio, he pointed out what was needed to turn things around, which was new strikers." (Joe Bernstein/Mail on Sunday)

Comments:
welll has he just noticed we need strikers, ive been saying that from the beginning cos blackstock and agymang is hardly gonna score us a hatful of goals

Shame he was the last one to notice this very obvious fact.

The yes man bites back.

I don't blame him. If you're going down go down with all guns blazing.

Dowie is not the man responsible for the players brought in so stop digging him out. Too easy a target.

Yeah so we need a striker , what a revelation , who are we gonna get now , why didn't we go for someone like philips , ebanks blake or even earnshaw ( who'll probably score against us saturday , he always does ) or all the other names touted during the summer instead of overloading with midfielders . Can't see anyone coming in before saturday which will surely be dowies last game if we lose .

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, from Wolves is needed.

We need at least strikers old style second division thumpers. Backs that can jump high and clear out goalmouth. Camp back in goal who backs will talk to. midfielders who can work sideways and frontways and set up and at least two that stay in form and healthy. We need Paul Furlong types Danny Shittu and Maddix types we dont need backs that fall over backwardss that race forward and play striker and forget what they're supposed to do and starlets from Italy and Spain. Weve had some good results earlier in season but that ended. Yes any team can have a bad run but until we score one goal more than the other team we'll keep losing. That means playing until the referee blows up and what still astounds me is thay they know that these refs add on so much time is that they havent learned that. Thats a managerial problem too. Come on you Rs wake up!

get dowie out he had his chance to buy a striker months ago

what are you on about?! dowie's not buying the players!

nobody wanted him but we've got him, so lets get behind him.
