Ian Evatt Wins "Player of The Year" in Blackpool Gazette Fan Vote

-
Congratulations to Ian Evatt. Hopefully will be back in the Championship with Blackpool, next season. (Note: This is NOT the Official Blackpool 'Player of the Year' Vote.)

Blackpool Gazette - Evatt's Your No.1
Ian Evatt is The Gazette's Blackpool FC player of the year.
The towering centre half beat off fierce competition from defensive partner Shaun Barker to claim the prize.
Wes Hoolahan and Andy Morrell had a titanic battle for third place, with the winger edging out his rival by a single vote.
Thousands of readers from throughout the Fylde and beyond voted in The Gazette's annual competition.
In the past few years it has been won by the likes of Peter Clarke, John Hills, Richie Wellens and Brett Ormerod. Evatt has now joined those ranks.
The 25-year-old has had a tremendous season, all the more impressive considering that at first he couldn't even break into the team.
Heart
He signed on a six-month loan from QPR on the eve of the season after Peter Clarke joined Southend.
Evatt sat on the bench for the first three games as manager Simon Grayson opted for Shaun Barker alongside Michael Jackson in the heart of the back four.
But after three defeats Barker was moved to right back and Evatt installed at centre half – and it's a switch that has paid dividends for both men, as well as the manager, ever since.
Both have had excellent seasons. Former Rotherham man Barker, who still considers himself a better centre half than full back, has missed just one game all year and as well as being a rock in defence, has chipped in with five goals.
But Evatt's wholehearted and committed displays have seen him become a crowd favourite with the fans chanting his name at most games.
He further endeared himself to the supporters by agreeing to take a wage cut in order to leave QPR before Christmas and sign a permanent 18-month deal at Bloomfield Road.
Evatt took 30 per cent of the vote to win comfortably and earn the player of the year award. Gazette
