QPR Update

-
While the press and the QPR messageboards are all confidently saying that QPR's new manager is/will be Francesco Guidolin, there has not yet been any official announcement.

Joining Tony Adams and John Collins in denying they were interested in the QPR job: Stuart Pearce: "The former Manchester City manager was spotted at a recent R's home game but said: "When I talked to the people at The FA about this job I said I wouldn't leave before the end of my contract. "I go and watch QPR, like any other club, to look at players in my squad.
“But I love the job that I do at the moment, and I'll stay doing this until The FA decide they want someone else doing this, or my contract finishes and then we'll talk again." Report

Meanwhile QPR loan from Portsmouth, Martin Cranie played for the England U-21s (England won 1-0 versus Montenagro - Report)

Speculation about 33 year old (or 32 or 34 year old) Juventus forward Del Piero and QPR.

Antonio Caliendo and Del Piero?

Calciomercato.com - Del Piero: Briatore wants him at QPR, Zamparini 'I’ll take him even tomorrow'

Maurizio Zamparini is also adding his name to the list of presidents who love Alessandro Del Piero. The world champion, currently having issues with his contract renewal with Juventus, scores with everybody. Palermo’s chairman, interviewed by Sky, said he is interested in Alex, and did not exclude a possible transfer to Sicily. "I will take Del Piero even tomorrow morning - added Zamparini – I couldn’t pay his salary, but with the help of some sponsors, it would be feasible."
Alex Del Piero is also the dream of new couple Briatore-Guidolin at QPR, reveals the Daily Mirror.
A budget of 20 million pounds (over 28 million euro) has been given to Guidolin who may try to acquire the Juventus champion.
As if this is not enough, there is also the issue of the contract renewal with Juventus that, at this moment, seems at a stand still.
A non-favourable situation could be a signal for a sensational exit of Del Piero after 15 years at Juve, with QPR ready to take advantage of it. However, the tabloid is the first to say that this could be an unrealistic possibility, because of the international level of the player. In fact, he is not only Juventus’ symbol, but also one of the most famous players in the world. A fine marketing man as Briatore, perfectly knows that having Del Piero would enhance the international fame of QPR.
There are two elements to reinforce Guidolin’s hope of succees with Del Piero: the arrival in England of Franco Ceravolo, former collaborator of Luciano Moggi, and, most of all, the contact that might have established a couple of days ago between Antonio Caliendo, one of the former QPR owners, and Del Piero. And in Italian Caliendo 'Del Piero?

Stefan Bailey set to make his Oxford United debut.
Oxford Mail - FOOTBALL: Bailey to get call-up - By Jon Murray
New signing Stefan Bailey comes into the Oxford United squad for the first time for tomorrow's Blue Square Premier game at Farsley Celtic.
The 20-year-old midfielder (pictured) joined the U's on a month's loan from QPR on Thursday, but was ineligible for the Torquay game, which dramatically finished 3-3.
Bailey, who was at the game as an interested spectator - watching alongside his QPR teammate and former Oxford United striker Dexter Blackstock - played in QPR's first two games of this season, but then lost his place.
He looks set to make his debut, not least because a number of U's players have knocks following Thursday's game, including Billy Turley, Michael Corcoran and the goalscorers, Eddie Hutchinson and Yemi Odubade. Oxford Mail

And from a couple of days ago: A report on the plane crash from just over a year ago. Among those on board the plane, Fomer QPR Chairman Bill Power and former QPR CEO, Mark Devlin (and his son)
BBC - Crashed plane 'ran out of fuel'
A plane which crashed and seriously injured some officials of Swindon Town FC ran out of fuel, an Air Accidents Investigation Branch report concluded.
The Cessna came down near Denham, Buckinghamshire, in August 2006. The club's former chief executive and an investor were on board.
The AAIB report said the plane was not capable of safely completing the trip without refuelling for the return trip.
It also noted the pilot had consumed alcohol but its effect was not known.
Swindon Town's then chief executive Mark Devlin and his son Stan were injured in the crash, as well as marketing manager Mike Sullivan, who has since left the club.
Also taken to hospital was investor Bill Power, an unnamed passenger and the pilot, 60, who was seriously hurt.
The plane had taken off from Denham airfield earlier in the day and was returning from the first match of the season at Hartlepool United when the crash happened shortly after 1900 BST.
All the injured were taken to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough
The AAIB report said the pilot was properly licensed, the aircraft was fully serviceable and the weather was suitable for the flight.
Fuel starvation
However, for the payload being carried, the aircraft was not capable of safely completing the round-trip flight without refuelling at Durham Tees Valley aerodrome.
The pilot had consumed alcohol during the day although the amount detected was not considered to be a major contributory factor in the accident and the effect on his decision making and aircraft handling ability was not known.
It concluded the accident was caused by fuel starvation of both engines with the right engine ceasing to produce power and the left one operating at reduced power or stopping.
Control was lost when the aircraft stalled. BBC

This is Wiltshire- town chief to sue over plane crash
Former Swindon Town chief executive Mark Devlin says he will sue over the plane crash that almost left his son disabled.
The move comes after reports into the incident revealed that the crash was caused by too little fuel in the aircraft.
A report by the Government Air Accident Investigation Branchsaid that the Cessna T303 Crusader plane crashed into woods in a Bucking-hamshire golf course on its way back from a football match in Newcastle after the right engine ran out of fuel.
Pilot Frank Kratky, 60, tried to divert fuel from the left engine, but the speed dropped too low to stay in the air.
Mark, his ten-year-old son Stan, director Bill Power, friend Alan Figg and marketing manager Mike Sullivan all needed hospital treatment for their injuries.
Stan, now 12, broke both legs in the accident as well as breaking and dislocating his left ankle and sustaining serious head injuries.
Because of the severity of his ankle injury he could have lost his foot when it began to bleed internally.
He had nine operations and must still be monitored by doctors because he is still growing and may need replacement pins in his ankle as he reached adulthood.
His dad said: "I am angry. It's a simple thing really - remembering to put enough fuel in an aircraft.
"We will be seeking legal advice now regarding compensation. I think that's justified and the least my son deserves after all he's been through."
The report said that before setting off from Durham, Mr Kratky checked the fuel gauges and calculated there was enough fuel for the flight, plus an hour's extra flying, using the aircraft's handbook.
Mark said: "We are both fairly philosophical about the crash and how we live our lives today.
"Stan is an inspiration as he has never really let this get to him even on frustrating days."
"I still feel guilty about the fact that Stan was there. I wish I had stopped him coming. I know it's not my fault but as a father you think like that."... This is Wiltshire
