Chelsea-QPR Programme Notes: Manager & Captain's Perspective

-
Chelsea Official Site - Programme Notes - John Terry
"Happy New Year to everyone. Well done to the lads for picking up 10 points in the busy period over Christmas and New Year. That was vital for us.
We were unlucky with the Villa game as well to have to share the points. So it could easily have been 12. We've come through the busy time, we've had a lot of injuries and we're still in all four competitions. Now we've got Pete Cech, Didi, Lamps and myself all back shortly and that's a boost to any squad.
But we lose the boys to the African Cup of Nations next, so that's where the manager's been clever. Maka's had time off over Christmas and he will be fresh-legged when he comes back. We all know what a world-class player he is and it will be great when he's back. So, good luck to Didi, Ess, Mikel and Kalou in Africa and now it will be down to the rest of us to step up and keep on winning ways.
I've been impressed by Queens Park Rangers. They've bought in some good players this week, people like Fitz Hall and Patrick Agyemang. It's great to see Bernie Ecclestone, Flavio Briatore and Luigi De Canio in charge trying to make QPR a big club again.
However, they're still a Championship side and as the FA Cup is the famous leveller we have to make sure we're not one of the upsets today. We've had a few boys there on loan recently and Michael Mancienne did well last year and has done again this season.

It's good for the boys to get out and play. My loan spell at Forest was crucial to me and it was only a few games, so I encourage it whenever possible. It makes you grow up very quickly. ...Come on the Chels!

Chelsea Programme Notes - AVRAM GRANT
".... Today, we begin our defence of the FA Cup, a great competition which also gives us a break from the Premier League. It is a pleasure to welcome our neighbours QPR today and their manager Luigi De Canio, who is a very experienced coach in Italy and is doing a good job here in London.
QPR will be hungry to show their fans they can compete with Chelsea and we must be at our best again to progress. Only then can we look ahead to Everton and Tottenham next week." Chelsea
