Preston Praise for Agyemang...Three Ex-QPRs Birthday Today

-
Lancashire Evening Post - Pat was loyal to the end
Alan Irvine has paid tribute to Patrick Agyemang for being a 'true pro' as he waited for the biggest break of his career to materialise.
The Preston North End manager revealed that the 27-year-old kept volunteering to play even though he risked an injury which would have jeopardised a four-and-a-half-year contract at Queens Park Rangers.
"He could have been selfish about the way he went about things once he knew QPR were waiting in the wings," said Irvine.
"He could easily have conjured up an imaginary injury and decided not to play for us.
"But right to the end, even with the Sheffield Wednesday game, Pat was prepared to do his bit for the team even though it could have put his move under threat.
"That just sums up what a good professional he is.
"We all thank him for what he has done in his time at this club and wish him well in the future."
Since Agyemang's move on Thursday it has become clear he knew about the QPR interest for several weeks prior to the deal.
Mega-rich Rangers, made him a fabulous contract offer which North End admitted they could not go close to matching.
The two clubs agreed a fee which could rise to £450,000.
And Agyemang signed on Thursday, in time to be considered for today's FA Cup tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Irvine said: "Pat has phoned me and thanked me for what I have done during the short time I have been here. He was very good over the past few weeks knowing the sort of offer QPR were going to make." Report
