Respect and Handshakes Before Every Game

-
Football League FL BACK FA 'RESPECT' PROGRAMME
The ?Respect? programme
It will be handshakes all round before all football matches in England next season in support of the FA's 'Respect' programme.
Respect is set to be the key word this coming season, as The Football League gives its support to the FA's latest initiative.
From the big kick-off on August 9th the aim is to improve behaviour both on and around the pitch and, in particular, demonstrate a commitment towards greater respect for match officials.
The Respect campaign is being supported throughout the game and has the backing of The Football League, the Premier League, the Football Conference, the PFA and the LMA and for you the fans the most noticeable aspect will come before each and every kick-off.
The League has agreed to adopt the pre-match 'Fair Play' handshake procedure which has become standard at International, European and Premier League matches for a number of years.
The 'Fair Play' handshake will be part of every single pre-match ceremony for all first team competitive matches - Football League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
