QPR Managers Come. And QPR Managers Go

-
For a QPR supporter, seeing managers come and go - and reading press speculation about whom would be the new manager - has become almost old hat. Since Alec Stock was axed just under 40 years ago, some twenty managers have come and left QPR (with an additional handful of acting or caretaker managers). Most of those QPR managers left involuntarily and after comparatively short terms. Ian Holloway in fact became the first manager to serve even five years (before he too was axed). Many were sacked; a few left under pressure; and only a very small handful left completely voluntarily: Dave Sexton, Terry Venables being two of them.
Sacked managers with names such as Tommy Docherty and Les Allen; Steve Burtenshaw and Alan Mullery; Trevor Francis and Don Howe; Ray Wilkins and Stewart Houston: Ray Harford and Ian Holloway; Gary Waddock and now, John Gregory. With some others in between such as Gordon Jago and Frank Sibley and Jim Smith and Gerry Francis (twice).
